Grammy-Winning Artist Tori Kelly Hospitalized, Husband Andre Murillo Finds Comfort In Her Lyrics
Tori Kelly was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center for treatment after collapsing at dinner on Sunday. The incident was reported by TMZ, stating that her heart rate escalated while she was out with friends in downtown Los Angeles on Monday. As the news of her hospitalization spread, her husband, André Murillo, sought comfort in her music. In an Instagram Story, he shared a video of Tori’s verse from her collaboration with Justin Bieber, Where Do I Fit In, featuring Judah Smith and Chandler Moore. The song, released on Bieber’s gospel EP Freedom in 2021, speaks about turning to God during times of loneliness and fear and basking in his unconditional love.
In the clip, Tori, 30, sings, “When I’m all alone and fear is all I see / Sittin’ in the silence with these insecurities / And then you remind me, you’re holdin’ me tight / And you love me completely, you’re always by my side.”
“And you say to me/ It’ll be alright,” the song went further.
According to PEOPLE, doctors discovered blood clots around the Grammy winning singer’s lungs and legs, and sources close to the singer revealed that her condition is “really serious,” with her reportedly “in and out of consciousness.”
Tori and André have been married since 2018, and she has spoken highly of her husband’s support. As a basketball player, he has been a pillar of strength for the Hollow musician. Tori’s latest single missin u, released in March, has seen him cheering her on as she explores a Y2K-inspired sound.
“I’ll ask him what he thinks about things and get his opinion on stuff. He grew up on ’90s R&B, so he’s super stoked about all the new stuff,” the singer said of her athlete husband, having previously said, “He’s the best. He’s the most supportive…It’s been awesome to have him.”
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, the singer and songwriter expressed her longing to go back to touring, as her world tour plans were disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. She shared how heartbroken she was to cancel the tour and emphasized how much she misses performing for her fans.
“I miss touring so much. I was actually on a world tour right as Covid was happening, and it was heartbreaking to have to cancel that. Since then, I haven’t been able to tour,” she stated.
