Halle Berry Says She’s “Madly In Love” And Stronger Than Ever
In a world that often puts pressure on women to find love early and conform to societal expectations, Halle Berry is breaking the mold. The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actress recently opened up about her love life and personal journey in an interview with Marie Claire, where she got real about love, relationships, and her vibrant new chapter.
Halle has been dating Grammy-winning musician Van Hunt since 2020, and she isn’t holding back when describing their relationship. “I created my career. I was intentional about that. But I had never been that intentional with my relationships. I was loosey goosey with that,” she said, reflecting on her connection with Van.
What makes this story even more remarkable is that Halle, despite her long and successful career, admitted she hadn’t been as intentional with her relationships in the past.
The turning point came when Van’s brother, who had known Halle for years, suggested that she meet his brother. This wasn’t just any introduction, but one that came at a time when the actress felt she had a deeper understanding of herself and the mistakes she had made in her past relationships. “You have to be clear with the universe [or] any old thing will find you. … The minute I started to feel like I understood myself and what I had been doing wrong, Van’s brother, who I had known for many years, came to me and said, ‘You should meet my brother,’” she shared..
The connection she made with Hunt felt different. “This is my person,” she declared confidently, adding that it took her a while to “get it right,” but now she knows this is the real deal.
Halle was previously married to baseball player David Justice, singer Eric Benét, and actor Olivier Martinez. She also dated model Gabriel Aubry, with whom she shares a daughter, Nahla Ariela. Her son, Maceo-Robert, is from her marriage to Martinez. Despite her high-profile relationships and challenges, it’s clear that she is in a much stronger and happier place now.
At 58, Halle is defying societal norms in more ways than one. Reflecting on her age, she stated, “Age is just a number that they stick on us at birth. As women, we get defined by it way more than men do, and sometimes it can debilitate us.”
But for Halle, this age is proving to be the pinnacle of her life. “I feel like I’m now at the pinnacle,” she shared, noting that she feels better and stronger than ever, even more than when she was in her 20s.
The Union actress isn’t just thriving in her love life and self-awareness — she’s also diving into new creative ventures. She revealed plans to direct a project tentatively titled Half a Day, which explores deep existential questions about life and death. “What happens when we die? Is that something to be afraid of? Where do we go?” she said, noting that these themes resonate strongly in her relationship with Van.
As for her film career, Halle is still going strong. She’s starring in Never Let Go, a survival horror movie directed by Alexandre Aja, set to hit theaters on September 20. For fans of streaming, The Union, a film starring Berry alongside Mark Wahlberg, is now available on Netflix.
