“I Don’t Give A Flying F***!,” Adele Publicly Admits She’s Only Attending Super Bowl LVII For Rihanna
On Friday, February 3, Adele revealed her Super Bowl plan is motivated by seeing Rihanna. The singer mentioned this during the concert of her Las Vegas residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
It appears the Grammy-winning artists have no interest in watching one of America’s popular annual sports games, which takes place in February of each year. For Superbowl LVII, the nation will watch Kansas City Chief and Philadelphia Eagles wrestle for the trophy at the State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona. But Adele, 34, already revealed Rihanna is the only reason she’s attending.
Rihanna’s Super Bowl LVII halftime show will be the singer’s first live performance in over five years. It’ll also mark the singer-turned-business mogul’s first-ever Super Bowl performance.
US Weekly reported that Adele told a prying fan during her Friday performance that she wouldn’t have given the event a second thought if it wasn’t for the Diamonds star. “I’m going just for Rihanna! I don’t give a flying f***.”
Evidently, Adele has always had a huge admiration and love for Rihanna. In her Time’s 100 Most Influential People of 2018 tribute to Rihanna, the British artist made this clear saying, “Whenever I’ve met her, she’s been the most gracious, loyal, and funny goofball of an icon. She glows like when someone’s taken a picture with a flash, and you’re dazed for a few minutes after. But it’s also very clear in that glow that she genuinely doesn’t give a f***; she’s fearless and full of all the right kind of attitude to be everything that she is and will be forever.”
The Someone Like You and the Lift Me Up singers have actually had an over-a-decade-old friendship, with both artists always looking up to each other.
In 2012, Rihanna first declared her love for the Easy On Me singer on The Jonathan Ross Show in the UK, saying: “Really, I came to the BRITs just to stalk Adele. It really was nothing about me; it wasn’t about the BRITs; it wasn’t about the performance. It was really just to see Adele again…I love her.”
Earlier in her Times 100 essay, Adele remembers meeting Rihanna but can’t quite retrace the first time their paths crossed. However, the 15-times Grammy winner recalls being “probably numb from shock of it.”Before the Super Bowl game, which is slated for February 12, the talented vocalist will be attending the 65th Grammys on February 5, where she has been nominated for seven awards. Making it back in time for the Super Bowls should not be so hard as Las Vegas is only a quick flight from Glendale, Arizona.
