“I Saw This Firsthand”: Amber Heard On Blake Lively’s Harassment Allegations Against Justin Baldoni
Amber Heard has weighed in on the ongoing controversy surrounding Blake Lively’s sexual harassment allegations against director and co-star Justin Baldoni. The 38-year-old actress shared her thoughts in an interview with NBC News, calling the situation a “horrifying” reminder of her own highly publicized legal battle with ex-husband Johnny Depp.
“Social media is the absolute personification of the classic saying, ‘A lie travels halfway around the world before truth can get its boots on.’ I saw this firsthand and up close. It’s as horrifying as it is destructive,” she said.
The controversy erupted after Blake, 37, accused Justin, 40, of sexual harassment during the filming of It Ends With Us. She also claimed that he led a smear campaign to tarnish her reputation, allegedly involving other members of the production team. Blake has since filed a lawsuit seeking unspecified damages.
In response to the allegations, Justin’s lawyer, Bryan Freedman, released a statement denying Blake’s claims, suggesting instead that she was attempting to “fix her negative reputation.” Amid the growing scandal, Justin has reportedly been dropped by his talent agency, WME.
Reports also revealed that Justin hired Melissa Nathan, the same PR crisis manager Johnny Johnny used during his defamation trial against Amber Heard in 2022. This connection has only intensified comparisons between the two cases.
Amber’s experience with public scrutiny began when Johnny sued her for $50 million over a 2018 op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post about surviving domestic abuse. The highly publicized trial ended with the actor being awarded $15 million in damages. After months of appeals, the two eventually reached a settlement, with Amber paying $1 million, which Johnny later donated to charity.
Amber, who currently resides in Spain with her 3-year-old daughter, Oonagh Paige, has mostly stayed out of the public eye since the trial’s conclusion. However, her recent statement signals a deep empathy for Blake’s situation.
