“I Was Completely Starstruck: Jane Fonda Publicly Says About Meeting Tom Brady On “80 for Brady” Set
Jane Fonda joins the growing list of celebrities who have been starstruck after meeting Tom Brady for the first time. She made this known to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet of the comedy movie “80 for Brady,” held in Palm Springs Friday night.
During the red carpet interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the veteran actor Jane Fonda publicly stated that meeting Brady for the first time during the movie shoot “made her weak in the knees.”
“I was completely starstruck,” she added.
Hearing Jane Fonda declare how meeting Brady for the first time made her feel is not unusual, especially when the person in question is the renowned NFL star. Anyone would have had a similar reaction after having the rare opportunity of closely working with the legendary quarterback star with a stellar track record of winning seven Super Bowls.
Jane Fonda and her longtime TV co-star, Lily Tomlin, worked with Brady(a first-time producer on the movie) during the shooting stage of “80 for Brady.”
The movie follows four New England Patriots fans — Jane Fonda (as Trish), Lily Tomlin (as Lou), Sally Field (as Betty), and Rita Moreno (as Maura) — as they go on a sports pilgrimage to see Tom Brady play at the epic 2017 Super Bowls.
While still on the red carpet in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, Jane Fonda had this to say about the veteran quarterback, “He was kind and humble, which is hard to believe considering how brilliant he is at what he does, but it’s true. He was also sweet and polite.”
“My knees actually got weak when he walked into my trailer,” the veteran actor said further. “I’m in awe of that kind of skill. When somebody is the best in the world at what they do, you have to honor that and respect it. I was just awestruck.”
The movie is based on the true story of four best friends. Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, alongside Sally Field and Rita Moreno, play longtime friends who found love for football late in life—specifically, for the Patriots team led by Tom Brady . It follows them as they make a move from Massachusetts to Texas to see their team play in the 2017 Super Bowl LI.
Tom Brady appears both as a producer and an actor (playing himself) in the movie, which is slated for release on January 28.
