“I Was Shaking”: Kylie Jenner Opens Up About Met Gala Anxiety

Kylie Jenner may have looked effortlessly glamorous on the Met Gala 2024 red carpet, but behind the scenes, she was anything but calm. The reality star and beauty mogul revealed that nerves nearly got the best of her as she prepared for fashion’s biggest night.
On the latest episode of The Kardashians, Kylie, 27, admitted she was feeling overwhelmed as the event approached. Her sister Kendall Jenner, 29, called to check on her, asking if she was ready to leave. Though Kylie assured her she was almost done, Kendall later confessed in a confessional, “I stress if, like, the timing isn’t working out.”
That stress quickly spread to Kylie. “When you stress, I’m like, ‘Oh God, she says she’s leaving; she’s leaving,'” she said.
Despite the initial chaos, the sisters, along with Kim Kardashian, Kris Jenner, and Kris’ boyfriend Corey Gamble, all made it to the Met Gala with plenty of time for photos. Kylie stunned in a sleek cream gown with a structured cone bustier, her dark hair pulled back into an elegant bun adorned with floral accents. From the outside, she exuded confidence, effortlessly fitting into the night’s “The Garden of Time” theme. But inside? That was another story.
“Oh, I was shaking” Kylie admitted, revealing that her nerves were at an all-time high.
“I don’t know why this year hit me so hard,” she added.
Thankfully, Kendall had some words of wisdom that helped her younger sister relax. “Remember, I called you, and Kendall was so calm. You made me feel better,” Kylie said.
“You were just like [here are] some words of wisdom, ‘This is supposed to be fun and let’s just have a good time.’ And I was like, ‘Okay. She’s calm, I’m calm,’” the reality star added.
While Kylie battled nerves, Kendall walked the carpet in an archival Alexander McQueen for Givenchy look from 1999 — an outfit that had never been worn by anyone before. Speaking to Vogue, she shared how the dress perfectly fit the theme of “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.”
“It’s been sleeping for the last 25 years. It’s literally a ‘sleeping beauty,’” she said. “It’s such a special moment. I feel extremely honored that they’re allowing me to wear it.”
