Iconic Magazines “In Touch” and “Life & Style” Shut Down

In a throwback-to-the-old-tabloid-era move, McClatchy has announced the closure of two major celebrity gossip magazines: In Touch Weekly and Life & Style. These publications, staples of supermarket checkout lines, will stop publishing by late June 2025.  

McClatchy cited poor profitability as the reason behind the shutdown — the changing media landscape and declining print ad revenues made it hard to sustain these gossip-heavy titles. The company is reportedly offering support and transitions for affected staff, though full details are not public yet. 

This marks the end of an era for celebrity tabloid journalism. These magazines once shaped how fans consumed celebrity gossip, covering everything from scandals to fashion. Their shutdown signals how digital media and social platforms have overtaken the traditional tabloid model
