Jada Pinkett Smith Says Tupac Is Her Soulmate
After Jada Pinkett Smith’s shocking revelation that she has been separated from husband Will Smith for seven years, the 52-year-old Matrix star further revealed that she believes Tupac was her soulmate.
While promoting her soon-to-be-released memoir in an interview with RollingOut, Jada shared that she and the late rapper, who passed away at age 25 in 1996, were close friends who loved each other though they had no physical chemistry.
She went so far as to say that she thinks they traveled together in their past lives.
During the interview, she was asked whether she regretted not taking their friendship to another more romantic level. To this, Jada replied, “It just wasn’t possible. There was no chemistry between us.”
After referring to Tupac as her soulmate, editor Christal Jordan asked her if that was possible since they didn’t have romantic ties.
“Absolutely, we have soulmates; our children can be our soulmates. I think this kind of romanticized idea of like a soulmate – there are all kinds of definitions of soulmates.”
Recall that the Jada also previously shared with Howard Stern that she and Tupac shared a kiss once but they decided that they were better off as friends and nothing more.
Jada explained, “When you have two young people that have very strong feelings… but there was no physical chemistry between us at all.”
Jada and Tupac’s friendship started when the hip-hop icon enrolled at Maryland’s Baltimore School of the Arts that Jade also attended. According to one of Jada’s interviews, the rapper approached her and introduced himself on his first day. Though he wasn’t Jada’s usual type, she soon had a change of heart. As Tupac approached her, she compared her attraction to him to a magnet that drew her close and the two hit it off.
Tupac was at the height of his career when he was gunned down in Las Vegas while sitting in his car and waiting to go inside a club. The rapper’s case remained unsolved for almost 25 years until investigators announced the arrest of 60-year-old Duane “Keffe D” Davis.
According to Lt. Jason Johansson, a Las Vegas police investigator, “Duane Davis was the shot caller for this group of individuals that committed this crime.” He was pinpointed as the individual who orchestrated the events that night.
Duane admitted to the murder during his previous interviews and in his tell-all memoir released in 2019 entitled Compton Street Legend. He acknowledged that he provided the gun that was used in Tupac’s drive-by shooting and remains one of the three living eyewitnesses to the murder.
Meanwhile, Will Smith and in particular, Jada Pinkett Smith, have earned the ire of the online community. Aside from Will slapping comedian Chris Rock onstage during the 2022 Academy Awards, the couple has been repeatedly criticized for raising children who’ve been described as pretentious and “spoiled brats.” Jada has also been condemned for treating her husband poorly and her for four-year affair with rapper August Alsina which she denies.
