James Corden’s Done With Weight Watchers After His Multi-Year Deal Naturally Ran Its Course
In 2022, James Corden’s deal with Weight Watchers quietly ended, and this was only two months after the British presenter’s infamous New York City restaurant rudeness became a controversy.
The 44-year-old, The Late Late Show host, who was labeled a diva because of his attitude while dining in a restaurant, used to be one of the brand ambassadors of the well-known slimming brand. However, the US and UK websites of Weight Watchers no longer mention or feature James.
It is unclear if James’ spat with Balthazar, the restaurant where the October incident happened, had any impact or influence on why he is no longer an ambassador for Weight Watchers.
Still, James’ spokesperson, who released the statement, clarified any insinuation, “The deal with WW was successfully completed last year and has run its course. Both parties are happy and on good terms.”
James, already nearing the end of his 8-year US hosting stint for The Late Late Show, was one of Weight Watchers’ most high-profile ambassadors and one of their biggest success stories.
James lost 35 pounds thanks to the program and proudly shared this during an episode of The Howard Stern Show. He went on to share his journey through promotions and interviews, mainly in LA.
Marketing experts share that James being a Weight Watcher ambassador was worth millions for both parties.
There was a time when the brand maximized the hype when James became the poster boy for Weight Watchers and was a relatable representative. Thanks to media interviews, commercials, and online marketing schemes, this made it a household name.
One analyst commented, “James’ weight loss journey drew headlines, and people noticed his success. However, that has not happened recently, and with him leaving America for the UK, there will be fewer eyeballs on him in the States.”
During the 2021 press release where Weight Watchers announced James as the brand’s newest ambassador, the brand had James’ website directly linked to their website. There are no mentions of James, and all previous links now redirect to the brand’s generic blog.
Recall that in 2021, James shared that he was on a Weight Watchers program not just to lose weight but more for his overall wellness. The host mentioned wanting to be well for his children and his family.
He revealed that he didn’t want to feel embarrassed looking and feeling tired after chasing his son on a soccer field for just three minutes.
He also didn’t want to wake up tired. James dedicated 2021 to tackling his wellness and starting his journey towards getting healthier. He also shared that his parents and sisters were doing great on Weight Watchers.
James’ wife, Julia Carey, was also one of his biggest motivators to remain active. James was one of the very first to go through Weight Watcher’s myWW+ program, a holistic approach focusing on wellness and weight loss banking on keeping active, proper food intake, a positive mindset, and quality sleep.
