Jennie Garth Embracing New Clarity, Says Acting Is No Longer Her First Priority
Jennie Garth, star of Beverly Hills, 90210, is taking charge of her life like never before. As she entered her 50s in 2022, Jennie began prioritizing what truly mattered to her. Now, at 52, she has a clear vision of her future, which no longer includes spending endless hours on movie sets.
Speaking with PEOPLE about how she is taking charge of her life, she shared, “I love acting, I love being in front of the camera. I do not love being on a movie set.”
“I don’t love sitting in my trailer waiting for lighting and everything else. And I don’t love being away from my family all those hours. So I was able to say, that’s not my first priority anymore,” he added.
Jennie’s last acting credit was for Bad Influence in 2022, and she acknowledges how difficult it can be to say no in the entertainment industry. According to her, learning to say no is difficult because people “get used to giving the people what they want and making the money and saying yes to everything.”
She, however, added that “you just reach a point where you’re like, life is too short to do something that I don’t fully love.”
Turning 50 was a pivotal moment for Jennie. “Turning 50’s a big deal to the world, but it is really a big deal. You start to look at things a little differently. You have a new clarity about what you want to do next [and] what you want to spend your precious time doing,” she reflected.
“I was able, at least, to say, I don’t want to do this, this, and this anymore. I want to focus on something else. And then, you have that clarity within yourself to believe it.”
That “something else” turned into a mission to help others and spread positivity. This inspired her to launch her podcast, I Choose Me, with iHeartRadio in April. The podcast serves as a platform for candid conversations on topics everyone can relate to.
Jennie didn’t stop there. She expanded her brand to include a new QVC fashion line, Me by Jennie Garth. The collection offers relaxed, easy, and refined styles in modern silhouettes, catering to women from XXS to 3X or 0-32, with prices starting at $49. Jennie is passionate about helping women feel empowered through their clothing choices.
As she explained, she wanted to “create looks for women who may need a little help with their outfit choices, and maybe they want to reinvent themselves and feel a little bit more empowered in their clothes, whether they’re just hanging out at home, going to work, or picking up the kids.”
Working on her fashion line keeps Jennie busy and fulfilled. “I enjoy doing it, and it’s been a lot of fun getting to know the customers. I just have really enjoyed it,” she shared.
As she continues to prioritize her growing brand, Jennie has big plans for the future. “There’s so much more I want to do with it. So I really bit off a lot, initially, with doing the podcast and launching the brand and doing the fashion line. So I am chewing on all of that right now,” she said with enthusiasm.
