Jennifer Lopez Keeps The Door Open For Future Film With Ben Affleck
Jennifer Lopez is leaving the door wide open for the possibility of teaming up once again with her husband, Ben Affleck, in another movie.
In a recent interview with Variety, the 54-year-old actress, reminisced about her memorable movie lines throughout her career. Among the topics discussed was her first encounter with Ben, 51, during the making of the 2003 film Gigli.
“The first time meeting him on that film was at the read-through. They did a read-through of the whole thing and I remember kind of just walking in and I think he was outside, smoking a cigarette and I saw him and we just talked for like a minute and then I sat down and we did the read-through. I don’t remember a whole bunch more about it, but I remember being on the set with him every day and loving it,” she stated.
Despite the ups and downs of their personal lives during that time—Jennifer was still married to her second husband, Cris Judd—they found themselves drawn to each other. The actress filed for divorce from Judd in July 2002, and by the end of the year, she and Ben were engaged. However, their relationship faced challenges, and they parted ways in January 2004.
Their on-screen collaboration continued with the 2004 film Jersey Girl, but since then, they haven’t shared the screen together in a feature film, despite their reunion and subsequent marriage in 2022.
When asked if they would consider another joint project, Jennifer expressed openness to the idea, stating, “I don’t know, in the right thing, maybe, in the right thing. I mean, we love working together and being together, so maybe.”
While Gigli may not have been much of a commercial success, with critics and audiences alike panning the film, it played a pivotal role in both their personal and professional lives. Ben himself reflected on the experience, acknowledging how it shaped his perspective on the film industry and his career aspirations.
In his words, “It doesn’t work, by the way. It’s a sort of horse’s head in a cow’s body. And the studio at the time, because I had begun having this relationship with Jennifer Lopez, which was selling a lot of magazines and appeared to generate a lot of enthusiasm, they just predictably latched onto, ‘They want a romantic comedy. They want the two of them together. More of that!'”
