Jennifer Lopez Talks About The “Emotional Transition” Of Blending Her Family With Ben Affleck’s
On Monday, Jennifer Lopez publicly spoke about the “emotional transition” of blending families with her now husband, Ben Affleck.
The 53-year-old megastar was present on TODAY to promote her new film Shotgun Wedding, when she shared a glimpse into what it’s been like blending her 14-year-old twins — Emme and Max — with Affleck’s three kids — Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14 and Samuel, 10.
While sitting next to her Shotgun Wedding co-star Josh Duhamel, Jennifer went on about the process of integrating five children under one roof.
Speaking about it, the actor and singer said: “We moved in together. The kids moved in together. It’s been, like, a really kind of emotional transition, but at the same time all your dreams coming true.”
Jennifer’s twins are with her ex-husband, Marc Anthony, while Ben’s three kids are with famed American actress, Jennifer Garner —from their 10 years of marriage that ended in 2015.
Like a fairytale, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck got back together in 2021, after their relationship and engagement was broken off in 2004 after dating for two years. On July 16, 2022, the pair tied the knot after three months of engagement, nearly two decades after their first engagement broke off.
“And it’s been a phenomenal year. Like, my best year, I think, since my kids were born,” the superstar gushed.
Looking at Jennifer, Josh Duhamel jokingly added, “I love Ben too though. I’ve probably loved him longer than you have.”
Giggly, the Hustlers actress, said, “I bet you have. He’s dreamy, I get it.”
Jennifer’s appearance is not the only time the Marry Me star had publicly opened up about her rekindled relationship with Ben Affleck.
During a Vogue interview in November 2022, the Marry Me star spoke passionately about her rekindled romance with Ben, saying: Obviously, we weren’t trying to go out in public.”
“But I never shied away from the fact that for me, I always felt there was a real love there, a true love there. People in my life know that he was a very, very special person in my life. When we reconnected, those feelings for me were still very real,” the multi-hyphenate singer told Vogue.
Still, in the Vogue interview, Jennifer praised Ben’s ex-wife Jennifer Garner stating that she is “an amazing co-parent” and that the 13 Going On 30 star and Affleck “work really well together.”
While still talking with TODAY, she highlighted the transition process of raising teenagers with “so many feelings,” and how she and Ben are managing the process “with so much care.”
