Jessie J Shares Tearful Update After Breast Cancer Surgery

Jessie J is singing a different kind of tune these days; one filled with gratitude, emotion, and a whole lot of love. The 37-year-old singer took to Instagram to share a deeply personal and emotional update about her breast cancer journey. Just two weeks after undergoing surgery, Jessie shared a heartfelt video of her two-year-old son Sky, filmed the night before her operation. In the clip, her voice can be heard gently encouraging him to say, “Mummy’s going to be okay.”
Turns out, she really is. In the post’s caption, Jessie announced through what she called “happy tears” that “I AM OK. Results = I have NO cancer spread.” Her relief was visible through the crying emojis that followed.
“Thank YOU for the prayers, the love, the well wishes, the joy and all the positive energy,” she further wrote.
Jessie also gave a sweet shout-out to her son, calling him her “biggest ray of light” and declaring that “the darkness will never win” with him in her life.
Though her recovery isn’t over yet as another surgery is on the horizon, she is choosing to focus on the present. She ended her post on a playful note: “…For now, it’s gratitude time, and I’m changing my name to The LopJess Monster.”
Famous friends like Rochelle Humes filled her comments with love, while fans flooded her page with support.
But as open as she is about joy, Jessie is just as real about the tough moments. In a follow-up Instagram story, she admitted that she’s dealing with “delayed sadness” and a sense of regret for not properly saying goodbye to the breast she lost during her mastectomy.
“Also my experience was when I was diagnosed I went into survival mode,” she explained, reflecting on how overwhelming everything was from her diagnosis to caring for her toddler, moving homes, and starting a new campaign after eight years away. “I didn’t really have time to process what was happening or what was going to happen,” she added.
Now, two weeks after surgery and with her surgical drain removed, Jessie’s embracing the emotional aftermath. “The left one is looking at me like, ‘You ok babe?’” she joked, describing the awkwardness of dressing with “wonky boobs” for now. “Well now I’m here and letting myself be angry and sad and all the things. Just for a few days.”
Earlier, Jessie had shared what she hoped was good news, posting “the cancer has all gone” as part of a list of pros and cons. But she later clarified that this was an affirmation, not a confirmed fact. “I don’t have my results yet,” she said, apologizing for the confusion and announcing a short break from social media.
“I pray it will be true soon,” she wrote, “but the journey of cancer isn’t that simple unfortunately.”
