Joe Jonas Hits Back at Soon-To-Be Ex-Wife Sophie Turner for Her Supposed Lies
Not all separations are amicable and respectful. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are now seemingly going full-throttle against each other as they pursue their divorce.
Sophie Turner claimed that Joe Jonas was withholding their children’s passports and that he was not permitting them to travel so they could see her while she was working on a project in England.
In a shocking turn of events, it is now Sophie suing Joe to get their children back to her home country, the UK. This was based on the public court documents filed last week. This has triggered a series of unpleasant events between the estranged couple.
After news that Sophie was suing Joe, a representative from the Jonas side stated that the singer hoped for shared parenting with Sophie, best known for her role as Sansa Stark in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Joe’s representative also wanted it to be clarified that his 34-year-old client did not abduct their children.
The representative stated, “This is an unfortunate legal disagreement about a marriage that is sadly ending. When language like ‘abduction’ is used, it is misleading at best and a serious abuse of the legal system at worst. The children were not abducted.”
Continuing in Joe’s defense, he continued, “After being in Joe’s care for the past three months at the agreement of both parties, the children are currently with their mother. Sophie is making this claim only to move the divorce proceedings to the UK and permanently remove the children from the US.”
According to Joe’s representative, the singer has also renounced the statements purportedly made by his camp that were reproachful and damaging to Sophie. These statements were all released to the press without Joe’s approval, and they are not consistent with his views of his ex-wife.
What Joe is hoping for now is that Sophie would reconsider her legal position so they can move forward privately and constructively. Joe’s priorities will always be his children’s well-being.
Joe’s representative also denied Sophie’s claim that she had no prior knowledge that Joe was filing for divorce. He said that Joe and Sophie had multiple conversations about separating. However, it was indeed Joe who initiated the divorce in Florida, given that it is the suitable jurisdiction for their case.
The Florida Court gave Joe and Sophie court orders that they could not relocate their children. This order was served to Sophie on September 6.
The couple then had a meeting last Sunday in New York so Sophie could spend time with their children. Joe felt that after the meeting, they came to an understanding that they’ve agreed on a co-parenting setup moving forward.
However, 24 hours later, Sophie stated she wanted to bring their children to the UK permanently. This didn’t sit well with Joe. And what’s worse is that she demanded Joe for the children’s passports to be handed to her so she can fly out with the kids.
Unfortunately, if Joe complies with the demand, he will be violating the order given to them by the Florida court.
