Joe Jonas Shuts Down Cocaine Rumors: “I’ve Never Touched Cocaine In My Life”
Joe Jonas wants everyone to know it wasn’t what they think. The 36-year-old singer has officially responded to a viral video that sparked rumors he was using cocaine onstage during a Jonas Brothers concert. In a new interview with Esquire published on October 20, Joe set the record straight with a laugh.
“I’ve never touched cocaine in my life. But if I did, I think I’d be a little slicker about it than doing it onstage,” he said.
The speculation began after a fan shared a close-up clip of Joe during one of the band’s JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour shows. In the video, he appears to step slightly offstage to fiddle with his nose, alternating between his finger and a small black cloth.
The internet quickly exploded with accusations but Joe wasn’t having it. After the clip made the rounds online, the Cake by the Ocean singer commented directly under one fan’s post: “lol you never had a booger?”
In his Esquire interview, Joe joked about how being “extremely online” lets him keep up with the internet’s wildest assumptions. Between his busy tour schedule with brothers Kevin, 37, and Nick, 33, and his occasional scroll through social media, the singer said there is not much time for dating.
“Five shows in a row doesn’t make it easy to meet someone for coffee,” he said. He admitted he’s not using dating apps though he has “met people” on Instagram and TikTok.
Offstage, Joe is focused on family life. He shares two daughters, 5-year-old Willa and 3-year-old Delphine, with ex-wife Sophie Turner, 29. The former couple, who were married from 2019 until 2024, are finding harmony in their co-parenting routine.
A source previously told PEOPLE that Joe and Sophie “have gotten into a co-parenting rhythm that really works and they’ve figured out how to communicate.” The insider added, “There’s a mutual respect now, and the girls are their priority. Joe and Sophie have hit a surprisingly peaceful groove, and they’ve maintained an amicable relationship from two continents, which isn’t easy, but they’ve managed to pull it off.”
That sense of peace extends to Joe’s other exes, too. AJ Michalka, who famously dated him in the late 2000s, told PEOPLE in September that reconnecting with him earlier this year was “really sweet.” The Aly & AJ singer shared that Joe met her nephew, Jack, when they reunited backstage before performing Potential Breakup Song, a track long rumored to be about him.
“It was super sweet. It was a really awesome moment,” said AJ, who is now in a long-term relationship with actor Josh Pence.
