Kate Beckinsale’s Rep Shuts Down Rumors Of Golden Globes Kiss With Matt Rife
After the glitz and glam of the 82nd Golden Globe Awards, rumors started swirling about a supposed romantic reunion between Kate Beckinsale and her ex, comedian Matt Rife. But according to Kate’s rep, those whispers couldn’t be further from the truth.
“It is incorrect that they were kissing,” her rep clarified exclusively to PEOPLE, shutting down the speculation. “They are friendly exes who were having a fun time speaking.”
Kate, 51, and Matt, 29, briefly dated back in 2017, but it seems the two have remained on good terms despite going their separate ways. While Kate was previously married to Len Wiseman from 2004 to 2019, Matt has been recently linked to actress Jessica Lord.
The actress was seen enjoying herself at the Netflix after-party at Spago Beverly Hills following the awards ceremony. She mingled with familiar faces, including her Click co-star Adam Sandler, Kevin Miles, and yes — Matt Rife. Later in the evening, Kate also attended Jas Mathur and Michael Braun’s after-party at Chateau Marmont, where she was spotted posing with The Gentlemen star Harry Goodwins and actress-singer Paris Jackson.
As for Matt, he had his own Golden Globes moment. After walking the red carpet at the ceremony, he was seen reconnecting with host Nikki Glaser at the official after-party at Circa 55.
While the after-party buzz may have sparked rumors, both Kate and Matt are staying focused on their careers. Kate recently starred in the 2024 thriller Canary Black, with upcoming projects including Stolen Girl and The Patient.
The Underworld star made her triumphant return to the red carpet last May after facing a challenging year of health issues, including what she described on social media as “a hole in her esophagus.”
Meanwhile, Matt is gearing up for his next film projects, including I Live Here Now and Candy Flip, after recently appearing in Beyond the Likes and Trapped Inn.
