Katharine McPhee Celebrates David Foster’s 75th Birthday In Style With Hollywood Bowl Concert
Katharine McPhee and her husband, David Foster, are showing that age is just a number. For David’s 75th birthday on November 3, the legendary music producer celebrated with a grand concert at the Hollywood Bowl called You’re the Inspiration: David Foster, featuring a star-studded lineup of talented vocalists. Produced by Live Nation-Hewitt Silva, the night brought out the best in music with performances by McPhee herself, as well as Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Kristin Chenoweth, Michael Bublé, Jennifer Hudson, and many more.
Katherine, who turned 40 this past March, shared with PEOPLE how she and David approach these milestone birthdays: by simply not worrying about the numbers. “Honestly, I think we’re both very similar in this way,” she explained.
“I welcomed my 40s, and David didn’t have any conversations about, like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m 75,’ or I didn’t say, like, ‘Oh, I can’t believe I’m 40. I’m really mourning that,'” she added.
“We didn’t do any of that. So, we’re kind of both cut from the same cloth. It’s like we sort of just accept life as it comes, and we’re not fighting getting older, because it just keeps getting better,” she added.
The pair’s relationship has always been marked by this easygoing attitude. Since they married in 2019, they’ve welcomed each new stage of life together, including raising their 3½-year-old son, Rennie. For Foster, who also has five adult daughters from previous relationships, these big birthdays don’t ruffle his feathers. “She’s fine, and I don’t even think about it, either” he told PEOPLE, adding, “…I’m just groovin’.”
In fact, David’s birthday week has been so busy that the celebration still hasn’t sunk in for him. Just the day before the concert, he hosted a major fundraiser on his actual birthday, and with rehearsals on top of it all, the events felt like “kind of a blur,” he admitted. “…I think maybe tomorrow I’ll think that I’ve just turned 75.’”
