Keke Palmer Speaks Out On Canceled Jonathan Majors Interview: “I Don’t Judge”

Keke Palmer is clearing the air about an interview that never saw the light of day and making it clear why she believes in letting people tell their side of the story. While chatting on The Breakfast Club, the 31-year-old actress and host of Baby, This Is Keke Palmer explained why her much-anticipated conversation with actor Jonathan Majors was shelved.
“…I sat down with the brother for us to talk and let him be heard,” Keke shared, adding that she was genuinely excited about the conversation and wanted to offer a platform not a judgment.
For Keke, who grew up in front of the camera and matured into a sharp, thoughtful host, interviews are about balance. “When I’m doing my hosting, I’m here to be unbiased,” she said. “You have to set the stage for them to speak and for people to watch and take what they wanna take from it, so that’s why I was open and excited to do the interview.”
That intention, however, sparked some heat online when news of the Jonathan interview surfaced mainly because of the actor’s legal history. As Keke explained, “So at the end of the day, I’m happy for Meagan. It’s always there, if people wanted to see it. But I always wanna be respectful and understand where everybody’s coming from. If they’re not going to feel like they’re going to receive anything good from the interview, then okay, cool.”
In 2023, Jonathan Majors was convicted on two counts of misdemeanor assault and harassment involving a former girlfriend. He was ordered to complete a year-long, in-person batterers’ intervention program in Los Angeles.
Keke emphasized that she wasn’t making a statement by sitting down with Jonathan. “I mean, people sit down with serial killers,” she said, before quickly adding, “I’m not comparing him to a serial killer! But at the end of the day, I felt like, as a journalist, I’m supposed to talk and we’re supposed to hear and let the public decide how they want to feel.”
Despite the backlash, Keke holds no bitterness about the situation and is still supportive of Jonathan’s new chapter with actress Meagan Good. The couple tied the knot earlier this year in a ceremony officiated by Jonathan’s mother. “Meagan’s my girl,” Keke said warmly. “…She’s honestly a mentor to me, and representation for all of us young Black women. I mean, I was happy for her to get married.”
Keke’s take is simple: she’s not here to judge but to have conversations. “I really wanna say that because I don’t judge nobody ’cause I don’t want to be judged. So at the end of the day, I’m happy for Meagan,” she said.
