Kelley Wolf Says She Initiated Separation From Scott Wolf, Slams Friends For “Weaponizing Concern”

Days after being taken to a hospital against her will and amid a very public split from longtime husband and Party of Five actor Scott Wolf, Kelley Wolf is speaking up—and setting the record straight.
In a series of emotional Instagram posts late Thursday night, the 48-year-old life coach shared that she was the one who initiated the separation “almost a year ago,” despite public perception suggesting otherwise. According to her, she has been trying to finalize the divorce for months, but delays with legal counsel have dragged things out.
“Yes, the official petition came from the other party,” she said, “but let the record show: I’ve been grieving this marriage for years.”
Kelley also opened up about her recent detainment on June 13 in Utah County. According to her, a few “very vocal” friends called the police from “some beach town in Florida,” claiming concern for her well-being. But to Kelley, that wasn’t love — it was control. “That’s not love. That’s control,” she wrote, adding, “What happened was legal. But it wasn’t right.”
In her posts, Kelley revealed that she was handcuffed, taken to a local hospital, and offered medication (which she says she refused). “I laid in bed for five days — sober, clear, and calm,” she shared.
In another post, she wrote, “Apparently, I’m also one of the strongest women a certain mental hospital has ever met.”
The events came just days after she and Scott, 57, publicly announced their split following 21 years of marriage. The couple shares three children. Kelley said being single has been “surprisingly great” and hinted that she may marry again someday. For now, she’s focused on peace and parenting. “I’ll be by the pool. With my kids. Living my actual, beautiful, grounded, powerful life,” she wrote.
But it’s not all beach towels and sunshine — Kelley is drawing a line in the sand. “And if you feel the need to ‘check’ on someone? Try literally anyone else. Just not me. And definitely not my kids,” she said, adding she’s ready to pursue legal action if necessary to protect her family and peace.
This all followed a tense 911 call on June 10 from an unnamed friend who described Kelley as being in an “escalating mental health crisis.” That same day, Kelley posted a video of the police arriving at her home. In the footage, officers calmly explained they were there because of “concerning comments” she made to loved ones.
But Kelley stood firm, telling them, “This is shameful, gentlemen… I know what I’m doing. I’ve done this. This is my job.”
