Kelly Bishop Reveals Her Favorite Rory Gilmore Suitor: “I’m Team Logan”
Kelly Bishop, the actress who brought the sophisticated Emily Gilmore to life on Gilmore Girls, has always been a proud supporter of her onscreen granddaughter, Rory Gilmore. But when it comes to Rory’s love life, Kelly has her own clear favorite. In a recent TikTok video posted by Gallery Books, the 80-year-old actress opened up about which of Rory’s suitors she preferred.
When asked whether she was team Logan, team Jess, or team Dean, Kelly didn’t hesitate to reveal her preference. “Well, I have to admit I’m team Logan,” she confessed. “Although, I really love the other two.”
Kelly’s fondness for Logan Huntzberger, portrayed by Matt Czuchry, stems from something special she noticed in his performance. “There was something about Logan. There’s something about his acting that I particularly liked in working with him,” she reflected. “He had a very manly quality, where the other guys were like boys — great boys, but Logan was like an old movie star, like a man.”
Logan’s character, the wealthy son of a newspaper magnate, was introduced during Rory’s freshman year at Yale. His charm and confidence set him apart from Rory’s other love interests, making him a memorable character in the Gilmore Girls series, which ran from 2000 to 2007. Though Logan proposed to Rory in the original series, she turned him down, and their complicated relationship continued in Netflix’s 2016 sequel series, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.
Kelly’s candid thoughts on Rory’s love life come as she prepares to release her memoir, The Third Gilmore Girl. In the upcoming book, Kelly promises to share behind-the-scenes stories from her time on Gilmore Girls as well as valuable life lessons she’s learned throughout her illustrious career.
“From my first steps onto a Broadway stage, to the town of Stars Hollow, I am excited to take my fans along with me through the story of my life,” she shared in a statement.
