Kelly Ripa Shares Hilarious Airport Security Encounter On Live With Kelly And Mark

Kelly Ripa had a memorable and amusing experience at airport security recently, which she recounted with a smile on the Tuesday, July 2, episode of Live with Kelly and Mark. Kelly, 53, and her husband and co-host Mark Consuelos, 53, were returning from a trip to Switzerland when the unexpected event occurred.

Explaining her usual strategy to avoid setting off detectors, Kelly shared that she always wears the same outfit to the airport. This way, she can avoid triggering any detectors. 

“And yet, in Switzerland, I got beeped. Then I had to remove my shoes, and I was like, ‘Why? They’re sneakers,’” he stated.

The story took a humorous turn as she continued, “But anyway, shoes off, beeped again. They wanded me, nothing beeped.”

“I got frisked,” she added.

Mark jumped in with a laugh, “I said check her again! Take her backstage.”

The couple laughed together as Kelly elaborated on the frisking. “I got frisked! Which I got to tell you, it was a gentle frisking. They were frisking me and I was like, ‘go for it. Go all the way for it.’ We got to second base and we exchanged phone numbers for later,” Kelly recounted.

Mark then recalled a similar situation he witnessed on the way to Switzerland, where a young man was about to get a pat-down. The TSA employee told the man, “We’re going to have to touch you here and we’re going to have to touch you in the back.”

Kelly added humorously, “Yeah, if you’re going to touch me in the front I want it in the back. Don’t leave me hanging.”

The couple’s Swiss adventure was well-documented on Instagram. Kelly shared a photo of the pair cuddled up at a table with a stunning backdrop, captioning it, “We are Switzerland baby 🇨🇭🇨🇭.” 

Mark posted a carousel of photos showcasing their boat outing, sightseeing, and time spent with their daughter Lola, 23. The pair also have two sons, 27-year-old Michael and 21-year-old Joaquin.

During the July 1 episode of Live with Kelly and Mark, the couple explained that their vacation was to visit Lola, who lives in London and has a British boyfriend, during her travels to Switzerland. They noted that Lola visits Switzerland frequently and they “totally get it” because it’s a “lovely” place. 

Mark praised the cleanliness, saying, “Hats off to the people in Switzerland. We were only in one city, but it’s the cleanest. It’s so clean.”
