Khloe Kardashian Accused Of Using Diabetes Drug For Weight Loss After Showing Off Toned Abs
Khloe Kardashian has denied allegations that her weight loss was achieved with the use of a diabetes drug amid a trend of taking semaglutide, known by brand names Ozempic and Wegovy, which reportedly helps people shed almost a fifth of their weight by suppressing the appetite.
This comes after fans speculated that Kim used the drug to quickly shed some weight in time for the Met Gala last year. After that, the drug has seen a surge in demand, leading to a global shortage.
Kim had maintained that she didn’t use the drug, explaining that she achieved her weight loss the healthy way. According to her, a twice-daily run, diet, and a sauna suit did the job for her.
Now that Khloe is faced with claims of using the drugs, she has said no. In a Tuesday post in which she posed for Sorbet magazine, she showcased her abs. Her abs had prompted a fan to comment that she uses semaglutide.
“The fact that she uses diabetic medicine to get this skinny is disturbing [sic]’,” the person commented. The comment earned a response from Khloe, who called it a disrespect to her hard gym work.
“Let’s not discredit my years of working out. I get up 5 davs a week at 6am to train. Please stop with your assumptions,” she stated, adding, “I guess new year still means mean people.”
The mother of two also had a response for those who accused her of changing her face in the photo, even though she mentioned in the caption that the clip-on bangs she wore changed the shape of her face.
“Fun fact: I wore clip on bangs for this shoot,” she explained. “‘It was fun to give a different look and not be committed. I am surprised with how much I liked the bangs even though they changed the shape of my face.”
While some fans believed her and likened her to Heidi Klum and Taylor Swift, others pointed out that the change was not a result of the bangs. Comments like “Literally who is that??,” “I don’t think it was the bangs that changed your face,” and “Ohhh it was the bangs that changed your face so much in these pics?” filled the comments section of the now-deleted post.
The 38-year-old had responded to all the allegations with a lengthy statement, which reads, “I openly talk about my nose job and anyone who ‘looks up’ to me must know I’ve lost over 60 pounds over the years. So recently the only change is the bangs. I didn’t know I had to do a running list. Either way, attacking someone is sad in my opinion. Unprovoked is the saddest part. If you are offended or don’t like what you see, you simply don’t have to say anything. I hope you have a great first week of the new year. Thanks for making mine so jolly.”
Many among the rich and famous are turning to Ozempic as a quick way to stay slim. The drug, which costs $900 per pop, is injected into the stomach, thigh, or arm. Once used, it quickly suppresses a person’s appetite allowing them to quickly lose weight.
The use of the drug as a weight loss supplement is off-label, as the Food and Drug Administration originally approved it for type 2 diabetes treatment. Due to the overly high demand for the drug, type 2 diabetes patients who actually need it for treatment have had to deal with shortages as the FDA has added it as well as Wegovy to its drug shortage list.
