Kim Kardashian Loses 150K Followers After Political Instagram Post
Kim Kardashian is no stranger to breaking the internet, but this time, it wasn’t for a viral selfie or a new SKIMS collection. The reality TV star, 44, saw a dramatic drop in her Instagram followers after sharing a photo of former First Lady Melania Trump on her Instagram story.
The post, which featured Melania in a sleek black suit and matching hat during Donald Trump’s Presidential Inauguration, sparked immediate backlash. According to Socially Powerful, an influencer marketing agency, Kim lost nearly 145,000 Instagram followers after uploading the image. Her X (formerly known as Twitter) account also took a hit, with over 9,500 users unfollowing her.
Despite this, Kim still holds a massive social media presence, boasting 358 million followers on Instagram and 75.1 million on X.
While Kim has never publicly endorsed a candidate in the 2024 election — where Trump defeated Kamala Harris — many fans took her post as a sign of her political leanings. Some pointed to her close ties with Trump supporter Elon Musk and her longtime friendship with Ivanka Trump as further evidence.
Social media exploded with reactions. One user wrote, “Kim Kardashian posted a photo of melania trump? Yeah it’s clear who she voted for.” Another added, “She’s been waiting to let that out!”
Others accused her of “taking off the mask” and revealing her true political stance.
On the other hand, some fans defended Kim’s choice, with one writing, “That was a great idea, Kim has good taste for class and beauty.” Another simply stated, “Love them both.”
Kim’s connection to Donald Trump isn’t new. In 2018, she famously visited the White House to advocate for criminal justice reform, successfully pushing for the release of non-violent offenders. However, things reportedly soured between them.
In his 2023 book, Tired of Winning: Donald Trump and the End of the Grand Old Party, ABC’s Jonathan Karl claimed that Trump tried to strike a deal with Kim — offering to grant commutations if she convinced NFL players to visit him at the White House. Kim allegedly tried but failed, as no players wanted to associate with Trump in the final days of his presidency.
Trump later denied the claim, calling Karl a “failed ABC Fake News reporter” and dismissing Kim as “the world’s most overrated celebrity.”
Kim’s ex-husband, Kanye West, is a well-known Trump supporter and openly endorsed him in the 2024 election. Some fans believe Kim’s latest post aligns her more closely with Kanye’s political views, despite her past social media support for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in 2020.
Despite the controversy, Kim remains focused on her empire. On the same day she lost thousands of followers, she was busy promoting SKIMS’ Valentine’s Day collection, posting sultry selfies and videos of the latest lingerie pieces.
Country star Billy Ray Cyrus is back in the studio — but this time, he’s not alone. The 62-year-old singer is collaborating with his son, Braison Cyrus, on a deeply personal album set for release in 2025. This marks Billy Ray’s first project since The SnakeDoctor Circus in 2019, and for Braison, it’s a rare chance to connect with his father through music.
