Kim Kardashian Says She Just Might Quit Showbiz To Become A Full-Time Attorney
Kim Kardashian has made a name for herself in the world of entertainment and fashion, but it appears that her true calling may be in the world of law. The reality star recently spoke at the TIME100 Summit where she discussed her passion for criminal justice reform and her desire to become a full-time attorney.
“I would be just as happy being an attorney full time,” Kim shared during the summit in response to a question about whether she can consider a life outside showbiz.
“The journey just really opened up my eyes so much. It gets overwhelming because there’s so much to be done … I brought my sister Khloé [Kardashian] to a prison for the first time last week, and that was really eye-opening for her.”
Kim has been walking the path of criminal justice reform since 2017 after she learned about the case of Alice Marie Johnson, who had been in prison since 1996 for her involvement in a drug trafficking case. The mother of four became a vocal advocate for Johnson’s clemency, which was ultimately granted by then-President Donald Trump in 2018.
Since then, she has continued to work towards reforming the criminal justice system and advocating for wrongfully convicted inmates. Her efforts have included lobbying for the release of a father whose daughter was killed in the Uvalde elementary school shooting, and passing the first-year law students’ examination in 2021.
Kim’s journey into the legal profession has not been without its challenges, as she shared in an emotional Twitter post after passing the “baby bar” exam.
“Looking in the mirror, I am really proud of the woman looking back today in the reflection. For anyone who doesn’t know my law school journey, know this wasn’t easy or handed to me,” she wrote.
Despite her success in entertainment and fashion, Kim sees her work in criminal justice reform as her most meaningful work.
“I always joke with my mom – who’s my manager – I say Kim K. is retiring, and I’m just going to be an attorney,” she revealed during the summit.
While some may be skeptical of Kim’s interest in the legal practice, she has proven to be a dedicated advocate for reform and a committed student of the law who hopes to follow in the footsteps of her late father Robert Kardashian, a prominent lawyer notable for being on O.J. Simpson’s defense team.
