Kim Kardashian Source Says She Is Over Taylor Swift Feud After Song In Taylor’s New Album Sparks Fresh Speculation
Taylor Swift has once again stirred up chatter about her long standing feud with Kim Kardashian with the release of her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department.
Taylor, 34, delighted her fans on April 19 by dropping a surprise double album just two hours after releasing her 11th studio album. One track, titled thanK you aIMee, has particularly caught the attention of fans, igniting speculation that it might be referencing Kim, 43.
In the song, Taylor sings about facing bullying, and the capitalization of the three letters in the title (KIM) has led fans to believe it’s aimed at the SKIMS founder.
Responding to the track, a source close to Kim remarked, “She’s over it and thinks Taylor should move on.”
“Kardashian “doesn’t get why [Swift] keeps harping on it. It’s been literally years,” the source added.
The chorus of thanK you aIMee features Taylor singing about enduring hardships and healing, with lyrics that resonate with the ongoing feud narrative.
“All that time you were throwin’ punches, I was buildin’ somethin’ / And I can’t forgive the way you made me feel / Screamed ‘F— you, Aimee’ to the night sky, as the blood was gushin’/ But I can’t forget the way you made me heal,” the Reputation singer sang in the chorus.
“All that time you were throwin’ punches, it was all for nothin’ / An our town, it look so small from way up here / Screamed ‘Thank you, Aimee’ to the night sky and the stars are stunnin’ / ‘Cause I can’t forget the way you made me heal,” she later sang in the chorus.
The lyrics also suggested that Taylor removed “any real defining clues” about who the song is really about, as she sang, “I changed your name.”
The feud between Taylor and Kim dates back to 2016 when Kanye West, Kim’s ex-husband, included derogatory lyrics about Taylor in his song Famous. “For all my Southside n—– that know me best / I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex / Why? I made that bitch famous,” Kanye sang in the song.
Taylor later denied approving the lyrics, leading to a public spat between the two celebrities, as Kanye said that Taylor approved the song.
Kim stepped in to defend her then-husband at the time, going as far as releasing footage of a supposed phone call between Kanye and Taylor, in which Taylor was heard seemingly saying the lyrics about her was “like a compliment.”
The Blank Space singer was also heard saying that she appreciates the heads-up on the lyrics, adding, “I never would’ve expected you to like tell me about a line in your song. I mean, I don’t think anybody would listen to that and be like, ‘Oh, that’s a real diss.’ You gotta tell the story that way that it happened to you and the way you experienced it.”
Taylor later refuted the narrative painted in the phone call, as she took to Instagram to write, “Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that bitch’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that bitch’ in front of the entire world.”
“He promised to play the song for me, but he never did. While I wanted to be supportive of Kanye on the phone call, you cannot ‘approve’ a song you haven’t heard. Being falsely painted as a liar when I was never given the full story or played any part of the song is character assassination,” she added.
Despite claims of moving on from the feud in subsequent years, tensions seem to linger, as evidenced by Taylor’s latest album release and her reflections on the situation in interviews and social media posts.
In a recent Instagram post, Swift described the songs in “The Tortured Poets Department” as reflections of past events and sentiments, indicating a closure to that chapter of her life. She expressed a belief in the cathartic power of music and writing, suggesting that sharing one’s saddest stories can lead to healing and freedom.
