Kourtney Kardashian Barker Talks Embraces Body Confidence And Positive Change
Kourtney Kardashian Barker is sharing her journey towards embracing her body and promoting a more positive body image. In a recent cover feature for Vanity Fair Italia, the reality tv star revealed how she stays confident about her body regardless of what people say.
Kourtney, 44, began by emphasizing her self-assuredness regarding her body. She revealed that her sister Khloé had always admired her confidence, which she had maintained throughout her life.
Even as a teenager, Kourtney felt the weight of societal pressure to conform to a particular body image. This pressure persisted even after becoming a mother, as she faced expectations to regain her pre-pregnancy physique rapidly. However, she now acknowledges that these societal expectations can be unhealthy, recognizing that every woman’s body is unique.
Kourtney is a mother to three children and is expecting her fourth child with husband Travis Barker. She has learned to appreciate her body’s changes over the years, especially after experiencing the physical toll of IVF treatments. She openly discussed the challenges and changes she faced, crediting Travis for his unwavering support in helping her embrace her evolving physique.
What sets Kourtney apart is her genuine commitment to promoting a positive body image. She acknowledged that she had participated in media coverage that focused on how quickly she had regained her shape after childbirth. However, after the birth of her third child, Reign, she chose a different path, opting to prioritize her wellness journey and share a more empowering message with her audience.
As she explained it: “After my third child [Reign] I refused to do them, I took my time, but I had already started a wellness journey during pregnancy and after the birth of Penelope, I wanted to convey a more positive message, without rushing anyone, least of all myself,” Kardashian explained. “I remember at the time I couldn’t wait to start training because it made me feel good in terms of mental health. I had a lot of anxiety at the time, I was separating from the father of my children, and training really helped me.”
This is not the first time Kourtney would bare it all about her body. During an episode of The Kardashians in October, she gave some insight into her IVF journey, saying, “So obviously my body’s changed. But it was all of the hormones that the doctors put me on. Eight months of IVF treatment has definitely taken a toll on my body mentally and physically. I think it’s taken me a lot to get me to the place of feeling really comfortable and happy with the changes.”
