Kristen Doute And Luke Broderick Are Expecting Their ‘Little Miracle’ After Fertility Journey
Kristen Doute has a big reason to celebrate — she’s pregnant! The Vanderpump Rules alum, 41, and her fiancé, Luke Broderick, are expecting their first child together, a rep for Doute exclusively confirmed to PEOPLE. The couple couldn’t be more thrilled to share the exciting news.
“After our pregnancy loss last year, we decided to start trying in early 2024,” Kristen shared, adding, “I knew my age could be a factor in conceiving, so Luke and I discussed going for an extra push, a little help.”
In late summer, the couple met with Dr. Carolyn Alexander at the Southern California Reproductive Center. Kristen described the experience as “incredible,” saying, “She cared with a perfect balance of science and good energy, successfully helping us create our little miracle.”
After undergoing fertility treatments and IUI (intrauterine insemination), Kristen didn’t have to wait long for her happy news. “The two weeks following the IUI procedure felt like years,” she recalled, adding, “To get a correct outcome on a pregnancy test, 2 weeks time had to pass and I had to wait it out but in my heart I knew it had worked. I tested one day early and got the big PREGNANT result staring back at me.”
Kristen described a mix of emotions when she found out she was expecting: “I was relieved, overwhelmed, happy, excited, and nervous.” Luke’s reaction? Pure joy. “The second I told Luke, he wasn’t surprised, but was SO happy that IUI worked the first time (we were prepared that it may not). He was joyful and beyond excited, to say the least! Our due date is in June and we are really looking forward to expanding our little family and becoming parents!” Kristen said.
The couple’s journey to this moment has been filled with both heartbreak and hope. Last November, Kristen revealed on her podcast that she and Luke had experienced a miscarriage. Reflecting on the loss in April, she told PEOPLE it gave them hope to keep trying. “I think it’s not a false sense of hope,” Kristen said. “We, at that point, had only been trying for a couple of months and we were fortunate enough.”
Their little one is due in June, and the couple couldn’t be happier to begin this new chapter.
Luke and Kristen’s love story began at a friend’s wedding in June 2022, where he was a groomsman. Reflecting on their first meeting, Kristen joked during the premiere of The Valley, “I thought he’s sweet, he’s kind, he’s funny, and then we had sex behind a tent and the rest is history!”
In July, Luke proposed while the couple was in Maui filming the second season of The Valley. After their engagement, Kristen told PEOPLE that wedding planning would take a backseat to their dream of starting a family. Explaining that they were putting a baby first, Luke stated, “Family comes first.”
