Lady Gaga Confirms “Telephone” Video Continuation Is Coming

After years of waiting, Lady Gaga has confirmed that the long-teased sequel to her hit music video Telephone is still on the way.
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Gaga took a lie detector test, and when asked if the Telephone storyline would ever continue, she hesitated before finally saying, “Yes.” When pressed for a timeline, she admitted, “I don’t know.”
The host then showed her a photo of Beyoncé, her Telephone collaborator, and asked if Queen Bey would be involved in the sequel. Gaga, smiling, simply responded, “Maybe.”
This news is a huge deal for fans who have been waiting since 2010 when the Telephone music video — directed by Jonas Åkerlund — ended with the words, “To be continued…” The over-the-top video, a sequel to Paparazzi, showed Lady Gaga in jail for poisoning her husband. Beyoncé bailed her out, and together they went on a crime spree, ultimately driving off into the desert in the Pussy Wagon from Kill Bill: Volume 1.
The song itself, released in 2009 as part of The Fame Monster, became a massive hit, peaking at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning a Grammy nomination for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals.
While Lady Gaga is gearing up to release her seventh studio album, Mayhem, on March 7 — featuring singles like Die with a Smile (with Bruno Mars), Disease, and Abracadabra — it’s unclear if the Telephone sequel will be part of the project. The only other artist featured on the album is Gesaffelstein on Killah, making it unlikely that Beyoncé will appear on it.
Still, Lady Gaga’s confirmation means fans can keep hoping. The saga isn’t over just yet!
In the same Vanity Fair video, the popstar was asked about a wild rumor that she once wanted to perform inside a Doritos vending machine at SXSW. She laughed and said, “That sounds like I might’ve said that. I don’t remember though.”
