Leah Remini Says Jennifer Lopez Is Still in Her Corner After Divorce

Leah Remini and Jennifer Lopez might not text every day, but their silence is not to be mistaken for distance. The two longtime friends still have each other’s backs especially when life gets hard.

In an interview with Us Weekly, Leah, 54, opened up about the deep friendship she shares with Jennifer, 55. Through divorce, heartbreak, and the chaos of life in the spotlight, their connection has remained rock solid.

“Right after the divorce, we’d text each other loving messages of support,” Leah shared. “Sometimes you don’t talk to people every day like you used to, but that doesn’t mean the love is lost. Friendships ebb and flow. That doesn’t mean we’re at odds.”

Although Leah didn’t clarify if she was referring to Jennifer’s recent split or her own, both women have been through major life changes in the past year. In August 2024, Leah filed for divorce from her husband of 21 years, Angelo Pagán. Their split was finalized two months later. The couple shares a daughter, 20-year-old Sofia Bella.

Leah was honest about what changed in her marriage: “You become friends, but there’s more to marriage than that. I saw that Angelo wanted something different.” Right now, she says dating isn’t on her radar, and she’s totally fine with that.

Jennifer, meanwhile, also filed for divorce in August 2024 — this time from actor Ben Affleck. The two were married in July 2022 and celebrated with a lavish ceremony in Georgia. But just two years later, their love story took an unexpected turn.

A source close to Jennifer told PEOPLE earlier this year that she’s not dating and has thrown herself into work. “She’s happy as it is,” the source said, adding, “Life goes on and if anyone can move forward and be positive about it, it’s Jennifer. She sees everything as a lesson. She was hurt by their sudden separation and Ben’s unwillingness to not work on their marriage. She really wanted it to work out.”
