“Leave Me Alone”: Tara Reid Shuts Down Eating Disorder Rumors
Tara Reid is addressing ongoing rumors about her health and body image. In a recent interview with the Los Angeles Inquisitor, the 47-year-old star opened up about the relentless criticism she has faced regarding her weight, firmly asserting that she does not have an eating disorder.
Tara began by acknowledging that body shaming is a pervasive issue in today’s society. She pointed out that criticism can come from all sides, whether someone is overweight or, in her case, skinny. She also emphasized that both scenarios constitute a form of bullying, and it’s crucial to combat such negativity.
The actress, known for her roles in American Pie and Days of Our Lives, revealed that her body has been a topic of discussion since the early 2000s when her career took off. However, the scrutiny intensified after her appearance in season 2 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. “If we were overweight then they can’t say anything because that’s bullying. But it’s the same thing if you’re skinny. That’s still bullying too,” she stated.
“I have no anorexia and never have. And I definitely don’t have any bulimia. I’m terrified of throwing up, so that’s not gonna happen. And I love food too much,” she added.
With unwavering conviction, Tara set the record straight: accusations of anorexia or bulimia are baseless. She called on her critics to stop perpetuating these false claims and focus on other aspects of her life and career. In her words, “It’s not right.”
This is not the first time Tara has faced body-shaming. In 2021, she used her Instagram platform to confront the hate she received after posting a bikini photo. “I am not too skinny; I have a high metabolism,” she informed her followers. Tara explained that those with a high metabolism struggle to gain weight despite their healthy eating habits. She expressed gratitude to those who supported her and encouraged the spread of love in a world filled with negativity.
Despite the constant scrutiny, Tara emphasized that she is “doing well.” She acknowledged that she has always had a naturally slender physique and that her appearance has remained consistent over the years.
The actress’ message goes beyond self-defense; she hopes her self-love and acceptance will inspire positive change and challenge the minds of bullies. Even if her message falls on deaf ears, she remains resilient. “I’ve gone through it for so many years that, you know, sometimes I feel bad for them because if they’re that miserable writing things at home, what are they doing? That’s negative. You know, it’s hurtful,” she remarked.
