Lizzo Says Worst Fear Came True With South Park Featuring Her In Controversial Episode
Lizzo said that her “worst fear” has been realized after she was featured on South Park. The special episode, titled South Park: The End of Obesity, premiered on May 24, and tackled the rising use of Ozempic, a popular weight-loss drug. In a surprising twist, the episode introduced a faux alternative to the drug named after Lizzo, the renowned singer and body positivity advocate.
The day after the episode aired, Lizzo took to TikTok to share her reaction in a “blind duet” video. “Guys, my worst fear has been actualized. I’ve been referenced in a South Park episode,” she began, adding, “I’m so scared.”
The episode opens with a conversation between Sharon and Sheila, the mothers of main characters Stan and Kyle. Sharon complains that her doctor won’t prescribe her Ozempic because she doesn’t have diabetes. Sheila, curious, asks how Sharon manages her weight without the drug.
“Don’t you know, Sheila? Now, there’s a whole new obesity drug for those of us who can’t afford Ozempic and Mounjaro. I controlled all my cravings to be thinner with Lizzo,” Sharon stated. The last line left the real Lizzo in shock, as she dramatically dropped her jaw and covered her mouth.
The episode then transitions to a parody of overly positive medication commercials. The narrator introduces the faux diet suppressor, stating that it “makes you feel good about your weight — and it costs 90% less than Ozempic.”
Sharon joins in, saying, “I’ve lowered my standards and my expectations,” while Lizzo remains stunned.
The fake commercial goes on to claim that the medication allows users to eat whatever they want with minimal exercise. “70% of patients on Lizzo no longer care how much they weigh,” the narrator continues.
As the ad shows a character listening to a Lizzo album, the singer exclaims, “Not the f—— album!” The segment concludes with Sharon saying, “Ask about the power of not giving a f— with Lizzo.” Lizzo approves with a snap and a firm “period.”
Reflecting on the experience in her TikTok video, Lizzo said, “I really showed the world how to love yourself and not give a f—. To the point where these men in Colorado know who the f— I am and put it on their cartoon that’s been around for 25 years.” She finished her video by saying, “And I’m gonna keep on showing you how to not give a f—,” adding her own spin on the faux ad’s jingle.
