Luke Hemmings Credits Kelly Clarkson For His Marriage To Sierra Deaton
In a delightful turn of events, Luke Hemmings, the lead singer from 5 Seconds of Summer, has shared a surprising and heartwarming tale of how Kelly Clarkson inadvertently played cupid in his love life. During his recent visit to The Kelly Clarkson Show, Luke revealed an unexpected twist in his and his wife Sierra Deaton’s love story.
“I don’t know if you know this, but I owe my whole marriage to you,” Luke confessed to an astonished Kelly Clarkson.
It turns out Sierra was inspired to pursue her musical dreams after watching Kelly win the first season of American Idol. This led Sierra to compete in X-Factor, which she won, and eventually moved to Los Angeles — the city where Luke and Sierra’s paths crossed for the first time.
In Luke’s words: “She watched you on American Idol and that made her want to go on X-Factor, and she won X-Factor, which made her move to L.A. when I did, and that’s how we met.”
Kelly, learning about her unexpected role in this romantic tale, playfully responded, “You’re welcome.”
Luke, grateful for the serendipitous events, mentioned that they might even name a future child after her, praising “Kelly” as “a great name” for both a boy or a girl.
Luke and Sierra’s journey together became public in July 2018 when they announced their relationship on Instagram. Their love story blossomed swiftly, leading to a proposal in early 2021. Luke shared the heart-touching moment on Instagram, writing, “With shaking hands but a full heart, I proposed to my best friend earlier this year. I love you Thao and I can’t imagine my life without you.”
Sierra, equally excited, shared her joy online, revealing how hard it was to keep the engagement under wraps.
Fast forward to January this year, at a Billboard’s Golden Globes afterparty, Luke casually dropped the news that he and Sierra had already tied the knot. He even shared a little tidbit about their life together, mentioning how Sierra had a hand in his eye makeup for the evening, a skill she taught him well.
“Thank you! My wife did it. Usually I do it for stage but she’s taught me well and she did it tonight. It’s a big event so she did it,” he said.
On the career front, Luke continues to make music, having released his second solo EP titled boy just last month. As for their married life, Luke simply says, “It’s very good. I love it.”
