Made In Chelsea’s Ollie Locke And Husband Gareth Expecting Twins Via Surrogate
Made in Chelsea star Ollie Locke, 35, took to Instagram on Sunday to announce the heartwarming news that he and his husband are expecting twins via a surrogate.
Before the happy news came, the star endured a three-year struggle with IVF, starting in June 2021. The duo suffered a heartbreaking loss six months into the process when their surrogate miscarried after six weeks. They discussed it on an episode of Made in Chelsea in 2022, where Ollie stated that he “just can’t believe it’s happened again”.
This was the third time the couple had to go through such a mentally draining procedure, and Gareth would go on to say: “Every time it’s like, ‘Oh well, next time surely it’s going to happen.” Unfortunately, it was only downhill from there, for the duo lost a total of 5 embryos over the course of 2021.
Ollie admitted feeling emasculated for not being able to conceive so far—a journey that must have been downright traumatizing. He added that he hadn’t told his dad about it, which was silly, but said, “I feel embarrassed that it hasn’t worked for us.”
We get more of these behind-the-scenes, raw, and real moments in a previous interview with The Sun, where the actor spoke out about their struggle to start a family. While the two have held each other’s hands and checked on each other, it has been a source of stress for both.
Ollie went on to say, “I wouldn’t be a real person if I said the experience has brought us together… If anything, it’s pulled us apart slightly,” the actor said, referring to the hefty sum of £100,000 they’ve spent on the journey thus far, which has also left them with no embryos with which to start a family.
Luckily for the duo, there was a light at the end of a dark tunnel of failed IVFs.
The star shared the exciting news via a joint post documenting a 4D ultrasound scan, some cute-as-hell moments with husband Gareth, over the past few weeks, and FaceTime calls with their surrogate.
They captioned the post, “We are beyond delighted to finally be able to share the news that we are expecting twin baby Locke-Locke’s into the world this summer.” The actor thanked their followers for being with them throughout the journey and promised “to share every step of this adventure” with them.
Riding the euphoric rollercoaster, the gorgeous to-be baby daddy extended the good vibes to people trying to become parents, “sending all the baby dust” their way, and thanked their surrogate @bec7ward for being “the most incredible human”.
Their comment section passed the vibe check, featuring good wishes and congratulatory comments from friends, family, fans, and co-stars.
Leading the bandwagon was the actor’s long-term bestie Binky Felstead, who wrote, “ITS HAPPENING BABBBBBAYYYYY’s”; Fans weren’t far behind, with one penning, “OMG that’s amazing news ! So happy,” and another, “I am so buzzing for you both!”
