Madonna’s Celebration World Tour Temporarily Paused Due To Health Concerns
Madonna is reportedly facing a serious health setback. The 64-year-old singer has been hospitalized due to a severe bacterial infection, which required her to be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, according to her talent manager and producer Guy Oseary. However, there is good news as she is said to now be on the path to recovery.
In an Instagram post, Guy shared the update with Madonna’s fans and well-wishers, revealing that the infection developed on June 24 and led to a multi-day stay in the ICU. While Madonna’s health is steadily improving, she is still under medical care.
““On Saturday June 24, Madonna developed a serious bacterial infection which lead to a several day stay in the ICU. Her health is improving, however she is still under medical care. A full recovery is expected,” Guy shared.
The medical professionals expect her to make a full recovery, which is certainly reassuring news for her supporters.
As a result of this unexpected health scare, Madonna and her team have made the decision to temporarily pause all commitments, including her highly anticipated Celebration World Tour. The tour was intended to mark the remarkable 40-year milestone of her illustrious career. However, the statement from Oseary assured fans that more information regarding the tour’s new start date and rescheduled shows will be shared soon.
Another source told PEOPLE that the “Material Girl” has made progress in her recovery journey and has been discharged from the ICU. According to a reliable source, she is now in the process of recuperating.
This recent health challenge is not the first one Madonna has faced in recent years. In late 2020, she underwent hip replacement surgery, which came 11 months after an injury she sustained during her Madame X tour. The injury forced her to cancel several shows in North America. In a candid moment during her Madame Xtra Q&A special in 2021, Madonna openly discussed the pain and difficulties she experienced following the surgery. She acknowledged her previous dedication to fitness and shared her determination to overcome limitations and stay in shape.
“”Let me be really honest with you—I used to be, like, a fitness/workout maniac. You probably know that right?… During my [2019 Madame X] tour—I don’t know if you’ve noticed it, but I’m limping a lot—I was in more pain than I’ve ever been in in my life. I’m a bionic woman—I had hip replacement surgery,” she shared at the time.
“So, how do I stay in shape?” she continued. “It’s all in your head… It’s called will, it’s called no one’s gonna stop me, and how I stay in shape is no one’s gonna stop me. And how I stay in shape is I don’t believe in limitations.”
As Madonna recovers from this latest health setback, fans eagerly await her return to the stage and hope to witness more iconic performances from this trailblazing artist.
