Meghan Trainor Shares Miscarriage Scare: “I Ruined A Chair”
Meghan Trainor recently opened up about a terrifying moment during her pregnancy with her second child, Barry, now 10 months old. In a candid conversation on the Thursday, June 6 episode of Mythical Kitchen’s Last Meals, the Made You Look singer revealed she had a miscarriage scare right in the middle of an interview.
The emotional rollercoaster began the morning she found out she was pregnant. “That morning I was, like, stoked, beaming of joy, I videotaped it. I did interviews and they were like, ‘How are you?’ and I said, ‘I’m thriving.’ I was so happy,” she shared.
However, the joy quickly turned into panic. “And then, right before my last interview, I look down and I’m gushing blood,” she recalled, adding that she “ruined a chair.”
Despite the alarming situation, the show had to go on. “I go, ‘Oh no,’ and they’re like ‘Okay, Ryan Seacrest is on. Go!’” she remembered.
The Dear Future Husband singer described the struggle of holding back tears during the interview. “I did that whole interview like, ‘don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry,’ and then got through it. I shut the computer and was like, ‘Hey team, I think I’m miscarrying right now.’”
After the interview, she went to the bathroom and saw more blood. “I went to the bathroom and saw what was happening, and I was like alright I had a baby this morning and now they’re gone. I was like I’m just gonna keep testing, and the pregnancy stick still said positive,” she explained.
To confirm her fears, Meghan got a blood test. “I got a blood test done, and it’s like the number is zero if you’re not pregnant. My number was 90,000,” she said.
It turned out she was much further along in her pregnancy than she realized. “At six weeks I went in and she goes, ‘Woah, that’s a 10-week-old baby.’ So I was pregnant ever since the [Jimmy] Fallon performance.”
The performance Meghan referred to was last October when she was promoting her new album Takin’ It Back on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She performed her hit Made You Look that night. Reflecting on that time, she said, “That day, I literally did a TikTok that was like, ‘When you get your period on Fallon…’ And that was me implanting. I was making life during my sound check at Fallon.”
Implantation bleeding, which Meghan experienced, is common. According to the Mayo Clinic, it happens when the fertilized egg attaches to the lining of the uterus, usually around the time you would expect your menstrual period, about 10 to 14 days after conception.
