Mia Farrow Shares Fond Memories Of Ex-Husband Frank Sinatra
Mia Farrow recently shared some heartfelt memories about her late ex-husband, Frank Sinatra. During an appearance on CBS Sunday Morning on September 1, the iconic actress known for her roles in classic films and her long career on the stage, sat down with journalist Seth Doane and her friend Patti LuPone to talk about life, work, and the legendary man who captured her heart in the 1960s.
Mia, who was married to Sinatra from 1966 to 1968, spoke warmly of the multi-layered man behind the famous voice.
“Like Patti, he was Sicilian,” she recalled, adding, “But unlike Patti, he had a temper.”
According to the 79-year-old, Frank “was so compassionate and shy, and readily available, more than anyone I’ve ever known.”
Despite their 30-year age difference — Mia was 21 when they wed, and Sinatra was 50 — the bond between them was strong, even if their marriage didn’t last.
Their love story began in 1964 on the 20th Century Fox lot, where they quickly fell in love. They married two years later in a Las Vegas hotel, but by 1968, the marriage was over.
Frank famously served Mia with divorce papers on the set of her horror film Rosemary’s Baby. Yet, in a twist that only true love can bring, their relationship didn’t end with the failed marriage. They “never really split up,” Mia admitted in a 2013 interview with Vanity Fair. Their friendship endured until Frank’s death in 1998 at the age of 82.
Mia has continued to honor Frank’s memory over the years. In December 2023, she marked what would have been his 107th birthday with a touching Instagram post, writing, “Happy Heavenly Birthday C.B. I will always love you ♥️.”
During the CBS Sunday Morning interview, Mia and Patti also discussed their current project, The Roommate, a Broadway play that explores the unexpected and life-changing friendship between two middle-aged women. The play, directed by Jack O’Brien, is a one-act comedy that delves into identity, morality, and the dream of reinvention. Patti plays a lesbian New Yorker who moves in with Mia’s character in Iowa, leading to a series of humorous and touching moments.
For Mia, this role represents a possible final chapter in her illustrious career. “It was perhaps a feeling of maybe ‘Is this it, or might there be one last adventure?’ ” she said, reflecting on her decision to take on the role.
But whether this is her last hurrah or not, Mia is content. According to her, she is “very good at doing nothing” whenever she is not working.
“It’s a gift. I’m endlessly entertaining to myself. I have good friends. I have no complaints,” she added.
Tickets for The Roommate are on sale now, offering fans a chance to see these two legendary actresses share the stage.
