Michael B. Jordan Jokingly Speaks About His First “Public Breakup” With Lori Harvey On SNL
On Saturday, Jan 28, Michael B. Jordan, 35, took the main stage in Studio 8H to debut his first-ever Saturday Night Live hosting. The Black Panther actor’s SNL joke focused on his 2022 split with Lori Harvey, 26.
While on stage, the actor spoke directly about the aftermath of his breakup with Lori Harvey without going into details. The Creed III star started his monologue on the show, saying: “I just directed my very first movie, Creed III, but right after that, I went through my very first public breakup. Now, most people after a breakup are like, ‘I’m going to get in better shape.’ So I had to be like, ‘Alright, I guess I’ll learn a new language.’ Anyway, estoy en Raya.”
The news of Michael and Lori’s breakup was made public in June 2022, a while after the couple was spotted attending events together. A day after their breakup news was made public, the actor was spotted at an NBA game in San Franciso. Pictures of him looking sad while watching the Boston Celtics vs. Golden State Warriors games quickly circulated online.
Addressing this particular picture live on SNL, Michael said: “After the breakup, everyone thought I was so heartbroken because when the news came out, I was at a basketball game, and they caught me looking like this. Look, I was just chilling. But the internet decided that that was me being sad.”
After the news came out, it was reported that both parties weren’t taking the breakup easy. A source told Entertainment Tonight, “The two of them are trying to move on, but they’re both heartbroken and upset.”
Continuing his monologue, he said: “Luckily for me, if you Google ‘Sad Michael Jordan,’ the first 8,000 of those are this,” pointing to a 2009 crying picture of NBA legend Michael Jordan giving a speech during his Basketball Hall of Fame induction. The monologue ended with some SNL stars coming on stage to shoot their shots with him.
The actor has been silent about his breakup with Lori. However, in December, rumors were that Lori Harvey makes men sign a $1 million NDA before they start dating. Many social media users believe this could be why Michael has been quiet about the breakup.
Michael and Lori confirmed their relationship at the beginning of 2021, and the split was announced in June 2022. Towards the end of 2022, rumors about Lori and British-Nigerian actor Damson Idris started circulating. The pair made it Instagram official on Jan 13, 2023.
