Michael Strahan Shares Relatable Moment As Dad Behind The Wheel While Daughters Drive
Michael Strahan, the co-host of Good Morning America, recently took to Instagram to share a moment that many parents can relate to. In a candid video, the 52-year-old father found himself in the backseat of a car, feeling a little uneasy as his twin daughters took the wheel.
In the video, Sophia and Isabella, both 19 years old, were in the driver’s and passenger’s seats respectively, enjoying some tunes as they cruised along. Meanwhile, Michael, their dad, couldn’t help but express his discomfort with the situation. “I just figured out I don’t like being driven around by my kids. Scared sh**less LOL #GirlDad #LetMeDrive,” he humorously captioned the post.
This glimpse into Strahan’s family life offers a touching contrast to the public persona of the former NFL star. Beyond the fame and success, Strahan is a devoted father to his children, including Isabella and Sophia, whom he shares with his ex-wife, Jean Muggli.
However, the Strahan family has faced challenges, particularly concerning Isabella’s health. Last October, Isabella bravely shared her diagnosis of a brain tumor during a segment on Good Morning America, standing alongside her father. The revelation marked a difficult period for the family, but they’ve remained resilient in the face of adversity.
Sharing her news, Isabella said, “It’s been like, two months of keeping it quiet, which is definitely difficult. I don’t wanna hide it anymore ’cause it’s hard to always keep in. I hope to just kind of be a voice, and be [someone] who maybe [those who] are going through chemotherapy or radiation can look at.”
Isabella’s journey has prompted introspection for both her and her father, as they’ve discovered the importance of support and resilience in confronting life’s obstacles.
Michael openly acknowledged the shift in perspective brought about by Isabella’s illness, emphasizing the need for mutual support and understanding during difficult times.
“You learn that you’re probably not as strong as you thought you were when you have to really think about the real things, and I realized that I need support from everybody,” he said, adding, “You think, ‘I’m the athlete, the tough guy, you know, I can come and handle, I’m the father in the family.’ It is not about any of that. It doesn’t matter. And it’s really made me change my perspective on so many things in my life.”
Despite setbacks, including recent hospitalization due to treatment complications, Strahan remains optimistic about Isabella’s recovery. He continues to stand by her side, offering unwavering support and love as she fights through her health challenges.
“It is tough to see her go through it, but I know she’s a tough young lady and she’s going to make it through it,” he said after giving an update on her health at the end of February.
