Miley Cyrus Teases “Something Really, Really Special” For Hannah Montana’s 20th Anniversary

It has been nearly 20 years since Miley Stewart took off her wig for the last time and Miley Cyrus is ready to celebrate in a big way. In a new interview with SiriusXM’s TikTok Radio, the 32-year-old singer and actress revealed that she’s already dreaming up ideas for a Hannah Montana 20th anniversary celebration. “I want to design something really, really special for it because it really was the beginning of all of this that now sits here today,” she said. “Without Hannah, there really wouldn’t be this kind of… this me.”
The hit Disney Channel series, which ran from March 2006 to January 2011, followed Miley’s fictional alter ego, Miley Stewart, a small-town teenager living a secret double life as pop star Hannah Montana. The show gave fans the “best of both worlds,” and it launched Miley into superstardom almost overnight.
Last year, she became the youngest person ever to be named a Disney Legend, an honor she credited entirely to the blonde-wigged character who started it all. “A little bit of everything has changed,” Miley said during her acceptance speech in 2024, “but at the same time, nothing has changed at all, I stand here still proud to have been Hannah Montana. In so many ways, this award is dedicated to Hannah and all of her amazing, loyal fans… To quote the legend herself, ‘This is the life.’”
Now, Miley says it’s exciting to see Hannah through a new lens. “It’s so crazy to think, too, that I started as a character that I thought was going to be impossible to shed,” she said. “And now that’s something that when I walk into a space, it’s looked at as this sense of nostalgia or something that you have from your childhood, but I’ve now been as kind of integrated into everyone’s life as the character itself. So that’s exciting to get to celebrate that.”
And for fans wondering whether Hannah could ever truly come back… Miley’s answer hasn’t changed since 2020: she’s game. “…I try to put that wig on all the time,” she once joked. “She’s just in storage collecting dust, and I’m ready to whip her out….She definitely needs a makeover because she’s kinda stuck in 2008, so we’ll need to go shopping with Miss Montana,” she added.
