Naomi Watts Raves About Kim Kardashian And Their Star-Studded New Series
Naomi Watts is singing praises for her latest costar, Kim Kardashian. In an interview with British Vogue, the 56-year-old actress opened up about working with Kim on the highly anticipated Ryan Murphy series, All’s Fair.
Describing Kim, 44, as “kind” and “hard-working,” Naomi described her as a risk taker.
Known for her reality TV empire, Kim has recently ventured into acting, starting with American Horror Story: Delicate. Naomi was quick to acknowledge her bold career move: “A businesswoman taking a huge great leap into acting. A new arena?! And unapologetically so. She’s impressive!”
The series, which began filming in September, features a powerhouse cast, including Glenn Close, Sarah Paulson, Niecy Nash-Betts, and Teyana Taylor. Naomi highlighted the strength of the ensemble: “I just love the empowerment side of Ryan’s storytelling, about putting this great group of women together and how they can not only kick ass but take care of each other as well.”
Describing All’s Fair as “Dynasty meets Succession,” Naomi teased that the show will explore themes of women supporting women while pushing back against patriarchy and misogyny.
Kim has also received glowing reviews from other cast members. Niecy Nash-Betts, who calls herself a big fan, told PEOPLE: “Let me tell you something: You can’t say nothing bad about Kim to me. I will fight you in the street!” She described Kim as “lovely” and a “girls’ girl.”
Interestingly, Niecy admitted she wasn’t familiar with Kim’s famous family before working with her. “…When we first met, I met her and her mom [Kris Jenner], and I said, ‘I have to be honest and tell you, I’ve never seen your show.’ And her mother said, ‘Oh, thank God. We have a chance! Maybe you’ll like us.’”
In the series, Kim plays a high-powered Los Angeles divorce lawyer working at an all-female law firm. The character appears to be loosely inspired by celebrity divorce attorney Laura Wasser, a connection hinted at in a May episode of The Kardashians. In the episode, Ryan pitched Kim the role, describing her character as “the world’s best, most expensive divorce lawyer.” Kim was immediately on board.
While Halle Berry was initially slated to join the cast, she exited before filming began. Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Halle explained her decision: “Things happen for a reason. I would’ve loved to have been there with those ladies. I know it’s gonna be great. Ryan Murphy! I mean, you know, duh. But next time!”
