Nelly Furtado Worries 20- and 30-Somethings Are Doing ‘Too Much’ With Skin
Nelly Furtado, the Canadian singer who has been in the spotlight for her youthful appearance, has shared her concerns about the beauty industry’s obsession with trendy treatments among younger generations.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE in October, the 45-year-old mom of one emphasized the importance of the “less is more” philosophy. She expressed her worry about the excessive experimentation with various beauty treatments by people in their 20s and 30s.
“I think they’re experimenting too much with their skin, with new trendy things that come out,” she remarked, encouraging a more considered approach.
Nelly further urged individuals to resist the allure of the latest skincare trends and instead take a deep breath before jumping into experimental treatments.
The Keep Going Up singer shared her insights during her participation in SKIMS’ “Best of SKIMS” campaign, where she also revealed her own secret to maintaining a youthful glow. Her approach is refreshingly simple: “an insane amount of water” and plenty of sleep.
For the past 25 years, Furtado has adhered to this routine faithfully. She emphasized her skincare routine, which consists of cleansing and exfoliating her face, as a key component of her timeless beauty.
In addition to her skincare regimen, Furtado advocates for moderation in alcohol consumption. While she occasionally enjoys alcohol on festive occasions, she refrains from making it a regular part of her routine. She believes that alcohol tends to dehydrate the body and make her feel tired.
Nelly’s recent collaboration with Timbaland and Justin Timberlake on the track Keep Going Up marks a significant return to the music scene after 16 years since their last collaboration in 2007 with Give It to Me.
In her own words, “I’m just leaning in a lot more. I’m leaning into what I do for a living and I’m finally realizing 23 years later, I’m really good at this. I love being on stage. I love writing songs. I love spreading joy.”
