Neymar Sizzles In SKIMS for Men Campaign
With the hottest collaborations between sports and fashion, it’s been an exciting few weeks. At least that’s the case for SKIMS—Kim Kardashian’s shapewear, loungewear, and underwear brand.
The celebrity-turned-entrepreneur has stirred up a frenzy by linking arms with the NBA and dropping her much-awaited men’s line. Spearheading her latest campaign is none other than soccer star Neymar Jr.!
Just a week into the season, the NBA and SKIMS sealed the deal with a multi-year partnership. SKIMS is now officially the exclusive underwear partner for the WNBA and NBA!
It turns out that her son’s football obsession kicked off the grand affair. The 7-year-old’s dream of traveling to Japan and watching Neymar in action was the catalyst for the partnership!
Kardashian says that the collaboration will help “connect people of all backgrounds through fashion, sports, and talent.” It promises to be a game-changer with both entities vowing to amplify each other’s brands while celebrating female athletes.
In fact, NBA Commissioner, Adam Silver, and the WNBA Commissioner, Cathy Englebert revealed that their organizations have grand plans for the clothing brand. This includes appearances at major league events such as the NBA In-Season Tournament, the NBA All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, and the 2024 WNBA All-Star Game in Phoenix, Arizona.
The announcement comes just after the launch of the much-awaited SKIMS men’s line, the brand’s first plunge into the men’s sportswear arena.
If having Neymar Jr. as the face of the campaign isn’t exciting enough, the line is also represented by Oklahoma City Thunder’s point guard, Shai Gilgeous Alexander, and San Francisco 49ers’, Nick Bosa.
Though it’s taking sports-meets-style to a whole new level, it wasn’t a first for SKIMS. The brand was the official US Olympic Team underwear partner for the Tokyo Summer 2021 Olympics!
While Kardashian and Jens Grede, her business partner, dropped a Boyfriend Collection in 2020, the SKIMS menswear range is the first of its kind. It includes socks, boxer briefs, and T-shirts in a wide size range of sizes from XS to 5XL to suit different body types.
Interestingly, Neymar’s presence is more than a strategic business move given how impressively he pulls off the menswear line. Aware of Neymar’s influence in sports and culture, Kardashian said that he is “just what SKIMS men’s is all about!”
She emphasized his appeal in an interview with GQ, “He is one of the greats. I think that he is so powerful in his field and I believe that SKIMS men’s is a really powerful brand. It’s empowering for women, and now will be the same for men.”
With the fashion mogul taking over sports, it seems like SKIMS has a promising future. In the midst of all the excitement, Kardashian hasn’t forgotten the women’s lingerie line either. She recently launched the bold and eye-catching “erect nipple bra.” It went on sale on Halloween and has already generated ample buzz. Ten percent of the sales from the product will go towards 1% of the Planet, a group that encourages businesses to make donations on behalf of environmental organizations.
With Kim K and Neymar teaming up and the NBA joining in, it’s a whole new ballgame for SKIMS!
