Nikki Reed Hints At Possible Acting Comeback: “There’s No Door Closed”
Nikki Reed is busier than ever these days, but that doesn’t mean she’s closing the door on acting for good. The 36-year-old actress, best known for her roles in Thirteen and Twilight, hinted that a return to the screen might happen — just not anytime soon.
Walking the red carpet at the 34th annual Environmental Media Association awards in Los Angeles on October 26, Nikki opened up to PEOPLE about her current priorities.
Clarifying that n definitive statements about anything,” she said when asked about acting again. “I’m just very, very busy.”
And busy is an understatement. Nikki is the CEO and co-founder of Bayou with Love, a sustainable jewelry brand, and she recently launched a supplement company called The Absorption Company. Between managing two businesses and being a mom to two young children, her schedule is packed.
“I work over 90 hours a week. Right now, I’m running a company full-time and just launched another… And I just can’t imagine being able to pivot my energy away, but there’s no door closed.
But despite her full plate, Nikki made it clear that she’s not ruling out a return to acting someday. “There’s no door closed,” she added. It seems like the timing just needs to be right.
Nikki’s husband, Ian Somerhalder, also knows a thing or two about stepping away from the screen. The Vampire Diaries star, 45, hasn’t acted much in the past few years either, focusing more on producing and environmental projects. In September, Ian told PEOPLE that he’s chosen to prioritize family and meaningful work over acting. “I say this in all humility, in all respect, but I would much rather do this than go spend two months in some city, shooting a TV show away from my family or transporting my family back and forth,” he stated.
The couple, who tied the knot in 2015, share two children – daughter Bodhi, 7, and a son they welcomed in June 2023. Juggling businesses and parenthood has taken center stage for both Nikki and Ian, but their passion for the environment and sustainability is something they continue to share and grow. While Nikki’s last on-screen role was in 2019’s V-Wars alongside Ian, her IMDb page shows that she’s staying involved behind the scenes. She’s listed as an executive producer on an upcoming TV series titled At That Age. Ian, meanwhile, produced the 2023 documentary Common Ground.
