North West Announces Debut Album At Dad’s Listening Party
At a recent listening party for Kanye West’s latest album, Vultures 2, in Phoenix, there was more than just music in the air. North West, the 10-year-old daughter of Kanye and Kim Kardashian, took the stage to share some exciting news of her own. Surrounded by cheering fans, North revealed that she has been hard at work on her very first album, titled Elementary School Dropout.
Beginning her speech, she began, “I’ve been working on an album…”
The album’s title is a nod to her father’s groundbreaking 2004 release, The College Dropout, showcasing North’s clever play on words and her connection to her dad’s musical legacy. This announcement marks North’s official entry into the music industry, following her recent appearance in the music video for Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s collaboration, Talking / Once Again.
In the music video, North showcased her budding talent as she confidently delivered her verse while getting her hair styled.
“It’s your bestie, Miss, Miss Westie. Don’t tryna test me / It’s gonna get messy / It’s gonna get messy / Just, just bless me.”
She also shared a sweet moment with her dad, showing off their close bond as they laughed together, both sporting stylish grills.
North’s aspirations extend beyond music, as she revealed in a recent interview with i-D magazine. Despite her young age, she has big dreams for her future, including aspirations to become a basketball player, a rapper, and a business owner.
She also expressed an interest in pursuing art, envisioning herself selling her creations to fund her passion.
Explaining all the careers she had her heart set on, she stated, “A basketball player, a rapper, um…Well when I was 7 I wanted to be a boxer. But now I don’t want to be a boxer. I’m going to do art on the side.”
“When I’m like, 13, I want to walk dogs, to make money to buy art supplies, because everything around here is so expensive. So a rapper, a basketball player, and I’m going to make artwork that I sell. Also, one day I want to own Yeezy and SKIMS, and I want to be a business owner,” she added.
