Paris Hilton Shares Her Reasons For Keeping Her Baby’s Journey Private
Paris Hilton recently welcomed her first baby with her husband Carter Reum through surrogacy and admitted how they decided to keep the news private even from their closest family and friends.
Hilton revealed that her mother, Kathy, and the rest of their family were unaware of her and her husband Carter Reum’s firstborn Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum. They only shared that their new bundle of joy had arrived one week after his birth.
On her This is Paris podcast, the 42-year-old Simple Life star stated, “Not even my mom, my sisters, my best friend knew until he was over a week old.”
Paris was happy with their decision to keep everything under wraps as she further explained, “It was nice to have that with Carter, be our own journey together. I feel like my life has been so public, and I’ve never really had anything be mine. So when we were talking about it, I really felt that I wanted this journey to be for us only.”
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, the iconic heiress stated, “My entire life has been so public. I’ve never had anything for myself. We decided that we wanted to have this whole experience to ourselves.”
Hilton even donned a brunette wig and assumed a false name to visit the hospital where her baby was being born. And once they brought their little bundle of joy home, the happy couple sent their staff away to spend a few days alone with their baby.
The socialite admitted that she and her husband were both very excited to share their news with family. But their anxiety got the better of them because once they said it to someone, it would be shared with another person, and then another until it became front page news.
The heiress revealed that she and her husband made a pact that they would not tell anybody, and it worked because it was only recently that everyone found out, and all on Paris and Carter’s terms.
Kathy, the Hilton matriarch, also met her grandson a week after Phoenix was born. Paris recalled seeing her mother’s reaction when she made the introduction and shared how it was unforgettable and priceless.
In a very candid interview with Glamour UK, Paris also shared that she still has seven more embryos and is hopeful to have more kids.
“Carter and I had already been talking about the future and then the world was shut down, so I was like, ‘What do you think about us making embryos?’” says Paris. “And he said, ‘Yeah, let’s do it.’ And we’ve done it seven times… I have all boys. I have 20 boys.”
The idea of freezing her eggs came from her close friend Kim Kardashian, who also underwent IVF and opted for a surrogate mother for her youngest children.
About being a new mother, Paris said, “I want to protect him and to be with him every second. You have this mother instinct that kicks in, which I’ve never had before. I feel so complete now.”
