Posh Spice and Daughter-in-law Snubbing Each Other on Instagram
Though Victoria Beckham and her new daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz are active on Instagram, the public has noticed they haven’t had much interaction on the social media platform lately. A series of posts led some to speculate that all is not well between the former Posh Spice and actress Nicola.
The sudden absence of social media interactions comes after both have shown a lot of affection for each other online. In the past, the English singer and designer has been known to give her Instagram thumbs up to at least 20 of Nicola’s posts with comments like “Kisses! We love you!”
This was reciprocated by the Bates Motel actress who was then in the habit of liking a variety of Victoria’s posts from her fashion collection and new product releases to feature in Vogue Korea.
Their warm relationship apparently took a different turn after the April 9 star-studded Brooklyn Beckham-Nicola Peltz nuptials. It certainly raised eyebrows when Nicola wore Valentino to her wedding instead of one of the designer dresses from her mother-in-law’s fashion line.
When Nicola uploaded photos from the wedding to her Instagram account, the social media likes of Victoria and her husband David were clearly missing. The power couple also didn’t give their Instagram nods to the August Tatler cover featuring Nicola, where she was branded the “The New Mrs. Beckham.”
Nicola, on the other hand, didn’t click the like button on the birthday photos of Brooklyn’s younger sister, Harper. The same stamp of approval was also missing when Victoria wished her hubby a happy anniversary a few weeks earlier.
If there is indeed tension between the two camps, we’re sure Brooklyn’s decision to take his wife’s name instead of the other way around ruffled the Beckham family feathers. As expected, Nicola’s family embraced their new son-in-law, causing Brooklyn to spend more time with his new family and less with the Beckhams.
Brooklyn Peltz Beckham is reportedly bonding with his new father-in-law. Nicola shares how she enjoys seeing her new husband coming to her self-made billionaire father for advice: “I watch him call my dad and ask him what he thinks about this?”
Since Nelson Peltz has had immense success as a businessman and investor, it makes sense for Brooklyn to turn to him for business advice.
A month after the wedding, Nicola appeared to want to distance herself from her in-laws when she remarked to Vogue, “Their wedding was incredible, but the wedding we were most inspired by was Iman and David Bowie.”
Many saw it as the Peltzes’ way of turning their noses up at Brooklyn’s side of the family.
In addition to the growing distance between Nicola and Victoria, there are also reports that Victoria’s friendship with the girlfriend of her second eldest son Romeo has soured. Though British model Mia Regan attended the lavish wedding, the two ladies weren’t seen spending much time together and are also barely acknowledging each other on social media.
Hopefully, Victoria’s plans of hosting a holiday with the partners of her sons will give everyone a fresh perspective and a new start. As a mother, Victoria wants to see her children happy. She also loves events so the upcoming vacation aboard their 93-foot yacht should be an ideal get-together for the Beckham clan.
