Priyanka Chopra Reveals She Froze Her Eggs Ahead Of Finding The “Right Person”
Priyanka Chopra recently said that she had to make the decision to freeze her eggs on time, pending the time she settled down. According to the 40-year-old actress, she froze her eggs while she was in her early 30s as she had not found the “right person” to settle down with.
Married to Nick Jonas in 2018, Priyanka welcomed her daughter Malti Marie in 2022 via surrogacy. Now, she tells the host on Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast that she froze her eggs to ensure no issues arise regarding her fertility in the future if she decides to have a child.
“I did it in my early 30s. I could continue on an ambitious warpath that I wanted to achieve. I wanted to get to a certain place in my career,” she stated.
According to the Agneepath star, at the time, she didn’t have anybody in mind to build a family with.
“[I was] 35, and my mum’s an OB-GYN who’s like, ’36 – Just do it,’” she shared.
Priyanka went further to stress the importance of freezing one’s eggs. Explaining how science allows the preservation of one’s fertility, she said it’s a gift every woman can give themselves.
“I tell all my younger friends the biological clock is real. It gets so much harder to get pregnant after 35 and to carry to term and all of that, especially with women that have been working all their lives,” she stated.
“It’s the best gift you’ll give yourself because you’re taking the power from your biological clock, and you can work until however long you want. Your eggs will still be the same age as when you froze them,” she added.
While the possibility of finding the right person to settle down with might have seemed bleak to the mother-of-one, she would later find the person in Nick. According to her, things did not click between her and the 30-year-old singer at first due to the ten-year gap between them.
She revealed that she was unsure if her dreams of having children and building a family would be affected by the age gap, as he was much younger and could have wanted something different.
“I always knew I wanted kids, which was one of the big reasons I didn’t want to date Nick [Jonas] at that time ’cause I was like, ‘I don’t know if he wants kids at 25,’ at that time. But I’ve always wanted kids. I love kids,” she stated.
