Rebel Wilson Closes 2024, Says She Will Move Forward From “Struggles” From 2024
Rebel Wilson is wrapping up 2024 with gratitude, reflection, and a touch of resilience. The actress, author, and now director took to Instagram on December 31 to share highlights from a year filled with love, career milestones, and some personal struggles.
In her heartfelt post, Rebel, 44, looked back on some of her biggest achievements. “What a year 2024 has been! Got married to my gorgeous Disney princess, my little girl is already a little lady, my memoir REBEL RISING was a New York Times Best Seller, the movie I directed had a huge gala premiere at Toronto Film Festival and I got to have some amazing adventures around the world with friends,” she wrote.
The accompanying photos captured beautiful memories from her September wedding in Italy to her wife, Ramona Agruma, and sweet moments with their 2-year-old daughter, Royce Lillian. Rebel also shared snapshots of their New Year’s celebration, complete with fireworks and a romantic kiss with Ramona.
However, the year wasn’t without its challenges. Rebel addressed the controversy surrounding her memoir REBEL RISING, in which she accused actor Sacha Baron Cohen of inappropriate behavior during the filming of The Brothers Grimsby. Sacha has firmly denied these allegations, backed by what his team described as “detailed evidence and eyewitness accounts.”
Beyond her memoir, Rebel made her directorial debut with The Deb, a coming-of-age musical that premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival. Despite behind-the-scenes legal disputes with the film’s producers, Rebel remains proud of the project, which tells the story of a high school outcast navigating her town’s traditional Debutante Ball.
In her reflective caption, Rebel didn’t shy away from acknowledging the tough moments. “There’s been some heartache this year, some struggles – having crisis PR teams pump absolute rubbish for their client’s agendas is INSANE and not a fun thing to go through but the cream always rises to the top!”
She wrapped up her message with gratitude and hope: “Thank you to everyone here on Insta for being so lovely and supportive! I adore you all! Thank you for writing to me and sharing your life with me. Rebel xoxo.”
