Rebel Wilson Unveils A-List “A–hole” In Upcoming Memoir
Australian actress and comedian Rebel Wilson isn’t holding back in her upcoming memoir, Rebel Rising: A Memoir. In a bold Instagram Story posted on Sunday night, the Pitch Perfect star, 44, took a stand against censorship, revealing the identity of the person she refers to as an “a–hole” in her book.
“The ‘a–hole’ that I am talking about in ONE CHAPTER of my book is: Sacha Baron Cohen,” she declared, shedding light on her discomfort during the filming of the 2016 movie The Brothers Grimsby with the 52-year-old actor.
Rebel’s revelation sparked a response from Baron Cohen’s representative, who vehemently denied the allegations, stating, “While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby.”
In an Instagram video earlier this month, Rebel teased the chapter dedicated to the individual she considered a “massive a–hole.” Reflecting on her Hollywood journey, she emphasized the importance of maintaining a “no-a–holes policy,” especially after her encounter with the unnamed individual.
“When I first came to Hollywood, people were like, ‘Yeah, I have a no-a–holes policy that means, like, I don’t work with a–holes.’ I was like, ‘Yeah, I mean, that sounds sensible, logical,'” she began in the video.
“But then it really sunk in what they were meaning by that, older people in the industry. Because I worked with a massive a–hole, and, yeah, now I definitely have a no-a–holes policy chapter on said a–hole. It is chapter 23. That guy was a massive a–hole,” she added.
Rebel accompanied the video with a caption that read, “Do you wanna know why I have a ‘no a–holes’ policy now with people I work with? … Well it’s all in the book: REBEL RISING available for pre-order now (drops April 2nd, link in bio) … oh and YES I name the a–hole!”
The Isn’t It Romantic actress shared snippets of her memoir-writing process in a December 2023 video, describing it as “gut-wrenching” yet fulfilling. In her recent Instagram Story, she showcased her dedication to her fans, personally autographing copies of her book.
“This is how I’m spending my nights of my holidays. Just another few thousand to go for the first people that buy the book,” she shared.
With a mix of humor and sincerity, Rebel teased her fans about the contents of Rebel Rising, promising a glimpse into her life like never before.
“You’re going to see a whole new side of me. Lots of funny stuff, and serious stuff … And hopefully you guys will love the book as much as I’ve loved writing it — although sometimes its been gut-wrenching and emotional,” she stated.
