Reyna Roberts Speaks About Balancing Bad Girl Vibes With A Love For God
Reyna Roberts, a rising star in the world of country music, is making waves with her debut album, Bad Girl Bible: Vol. 1. But this talented artist wants her fans to know that despite the album’s title, she’s a believer in God and dedicated to her art as a gift from above.
In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Reyna emphasized, “I want to make sure people know that even though it’s called Bad Girl Bible: Vol. 1, I do love God. This is my art, dedicated to Him because without Him, I wouldn’t have the songs. I wouldn’t have the talent. I wouldn’t have anything.”
Reyna Roberts, known for her edgy persona and bad girl vibes, may surprise many with her strong faith and dedication to her craft. At just 26 years old, she’s already leaving her mark on the country music scene.
“I feel like I’ve been able to capture all the elements of me, but also make sure that the country element is still there,” she says of her album.
“You have hip-hop, you have pop, and then you have traces of rock in it, but it doesn’t feel disjointed all over the place. At least I try my best to make sure of that,” she added.
Creating this album was a journey of self-discovery for Reyna as she said she aimed to craft a fictional character’s timeline evolving over time, but by the end, it became a reflection of her own life. “I stepped into it. and all those stories became real,” she shared.
One of the standout moments on the album is Death of Me, a powerful song co-written with AJ Pruis and Liz Rose. speaking about her collaboration with Liz, Reyna fondly recalls, “Literally, we went to her beach house in Florida. I had never even been to Florida before!”
Reyna also reveals her fearless side in the track Miranda, which she co-wrote with Kendall Brower and David Mescon. She shares, “I feel like that song and that character encapsulates all the things that I want people to see me as too — this badass, this outlaw, this person who’s fearless.”
Despite the rebellious spirit, Reyna is aware of the boundaries in country music. “I know in country music, there are certain lines that we have to be aware of. With ‘Miranda,’ I’m able to express this badass outlaw side of me,” she adds.
Her haunting single One Way Street tells a poignant story of unrequited love. “I had the biggest crush on one of my closest friends. The feelings weren’t reciprocated though… The song became a really cool way to explain this feeling of being stuck and going down this path where it’s not the right path, but you’re still going down this path in the hopes of it being the ending you want it to be,” she reflects.
So, what’s Reyna’s ultimate ending? “My goal is to have that kind of love where I’m married for 30 years. I think that’s precious, and that’s what I want. I’ve always been really shy though,” she shared.
